A really great cymbal!
Child of God 23.10.2026
I ordered the UFIP 18" FX Power China, UFIP 18" FX Fast China, Paiste 2002 Classic 18" China, Zultan 18" Q China, and Zultan 18" Aja China.

When it comes to China cymbals, I'm looking for an explosive, expressive sound with plenty of character.

Both UFIP cymbals had the most direct sound. The FX Power seems to be the brightest-sounding of the two, while the FX Fast is slightly darker, more shimmering, and has more of a sizzling character. The FX Power sounds a little rounder and more open than the FX Fast China.

I wouldn't say the FX Power China really lives up to its name, particularly the word "Power," because when compared with the FX Fast China, both are roughly equally loud. The Paiste 2002 Classic China is also about as loud as both UFIP Chinas.

Don't get me wrong, the FX Power sounds powerful, but the FX Fast does too. At the same time, I wouldn't say the FX Fast really lives up to its name either, particularly the word "Fast," because its sound doesn't cut off instantly. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

In short, each of these UFIP China cymbals has something special about it, and both are excellent China cymbals.

As for the Paiste 2002 Classic 18" China, it has a slightly more interesting, colorful, and broader sound than the UFIP FX Power and UFIP FX Fast, but both UFIP Chinas have a more direct sound.

If I had to choose between the FX Power, FX Fast, and Paiste 2002 Classic, I couldn't pick a single favorite. I like all three cymbals because each one has something special about it.

On the other hand, if you're looking for a darker, fairly rich, rawer, slightly dirtier, and more subdued sound, the Zultan 18" Q China is also a good option.

And if you want an explosive, slightly dirty, raw, loud, and expressive China sound, the Zultan 18" Aja China isn't a bad choice either, especially considering its price.

Good luck!

Bought just to try the Ufip and was blown away. A perfectly crafted cymbal with a great sound and look. The high, sparkling sound fits nicely into the mix. Not for extreme metal, but handles pretty much everything else just fine.

Der perfekte China Sound!
Anonymous 22.07.2016
