Vater...do I need say more?!
DrumLights 04.08.2021
Excellent pair of sticks, even though most drummers will probably prefer sticks where the weight is more prevalent in the grip (butt) area. It just needs a bit of getting used to, because there is also the big advantage that your hits will have more power with the weight distributed towards the shoulder of the stick.

PROS
- sturdy and durable, can take a beating with very few scratches on them
- the distribution of the weight towards the shoulder adds extra power and volume to your hits
- perfect for rock and metal

CONS
- it's a matter of taste, but some drummers might not like the light butt and heavy shoulder

I confess I prefer Vater because Josh Freese, my drumming idol, uses them. A propos, it would be great if Thomann made his signature sticks available, as well.

Amazed!

1st : Feel of stick. Really, really great. Of course it is really individual thing, but they feel a bit light. You could play jazz with them. But still, there is enaf power for rock stuff. I really like this feel, but again, it is individual thing.
2nd: Durability. I play lot's of rimshots, so i am basically destroying all of my sticks in same place. But these ones are holding good. I am really suprised by durability, especially knowing the lightness of sticks.
3rd: Great price. Especially, when you buy more then 6 pairs.
Truly recommend.

DW
The most versatile stick out there!
David W. 26 26.06.2013
I use these sticks for all types of gigs; musical theatre, small group jazz, functions, and big band jazz. I have been searching for a long time to find the 'perfect stick' for all my types of gigs and this one comes out tops. Vater 5A Los Angeles are beefy enough for styles such as funk and light rock but are thin enough to cope with quieter, faster, and more sensitive styles namely jazz and musical theatre. The tip is pointed, long, and thin which makes the ride cymbal in a jazz situation sound light and crisp, with sufficient definition.
These sticks will always be my weapon of choice! Any drummers who are looking for a stick for versatile playing - this is the one to go for!

I always used to be a Vic Firth guy until I went to uni and started getting a discount on vater sticks. Since then I've only really used Vater, and not because of the price. I prefer the feel of the stick, the length and the width are the same as a Vic Firth or Promark 5A but I find them slightly heavier, not much but just enough to make it feel like I'm hitting the drums with something that's not going to fall apart or fly out of my hand. The sticks are always pretty much perfectly match, but sometimes pairs differ from each other, which is the only downside in my opinion.

I have been using these sticks for over 10 years now , every time the same comfortable feeling in my hands , perfectly balances , nice rebound and good attack for both loud and smooth playing . They also last longer than other sticks I have been trying out .
buying in bundles of 12 is a MUST as best value for money

B
Nice Heavy Sticks
Bhairav 03.12.2020
i bought these to try them and i gotta say i'm very impressed, the feel a little bit heavier than regular 5A and they are balanced toward the tip, however they feel great and i always keep a spare in the studio if the drummers break theirs. Great for playing heavier music or if you want to have that 80's smacking tone.

Five Star 5A's

These are my drumsticks. I previously played vic firth 747's or 5b's but both were either just too light and prone to breakage or too chubby. These are meaty drumsticks but still manage to feel light.
