The Yamaha MG10X itself is an absolute powerhouse. I specifically went for this model because the D-PRE preamps are incredibly clean and provide a really warm, natural sound that you just don't get with other budget mixers. The one-knob compressors are a total lifesaver for keeping vocals consistent without any fuss, and the built-in SPX effects sound great—perfect for adding a little space to a live set. It’s clearly designed to be a "workhorse" that can handle anything from small gigs to studio sessions.
However, the experience of actually receiving it was pretty disappointing. Even though this was part of a large 2K order, Thomann just threw it into a box and sent it overseas with very little protection. Because of the poor handling, it showed up with a noticeable hit on the side. It’s frustrating because the mixer’s metal chassis is supposed to be "road tough," but no piece of gear should have to survive being tossed around like that during shipping.
Overall, if you're looking for a reliable, professional 10-channel board that sounds fantastic, you can't beat the MG10X. Just be prepared for a bit of a headache if yours isn't packaged properly for the long trip.
