The Yamaha PSR-SX700 is the budget-friendly alternative to Yahama's PSR-SX900 flagship model, and it can be used not only to play expressive performances, but also as a workstation to record complete songs. This new generation of the well-known PSR-SX series features a redesigned user interface, which offers new assignable buttons, a touchscreen, a joystick, and various live controllers. With these options, users can control modulation and pitch with the joystick, for example. In addition to these new features, the keys have been enhanced with a higher resistance, and the keyboard can now also be split into four sections. All of this gives the user complete control over their performance and provides a broad selection of sounds and accompanying rhythms with which to unleash their creativity.

Modern control via touchscreen
Thanks to its 7" touchscreen, the PSR-SX700 makes use of fewer control units than its predecessor, which results in a simpler user interface that is easier to use. This design makes it possible to select different menus from the touchscreen display in order to adjust any settings and to activate different functions for an expressive performance. The buttons below the display are assignable to functions for which the user would normally have to painstakingly search the menu, while styles and voices can be selected using the buttons next to the display. In total, the PSR-SX700 offers 986 sounds to choose from, in addition to which 41 drum kits covering 400 styles are available to allow the user to find the ideal accompaniment for their compositions. Should it still not be possible to find a suitable sound and style, the optionally available Voice&Style expansion packs will provide a range of additional options.
Layered sounds and vocoder effects
The Yamaha PSR-X700 features an FSB keyboard with 61 velocity-sensitive keys, which comprises four sections: One for the left hand, three for the right, and the user can layer the right-hand sections in order to superimpose different sounds and play them simultaneously. This function can be found to the right of the large jogwheel, and buttons for selecting the rhythm style and for recalling control panel settings that have been stored in the register memory as well as a set of multi-pads for playing back previously recorded rhythmic and meldodic sequences can all be found directly above the keys. Users can additionally sing along to their own performance by connecting a microphone to the 6.3mm jack input located on the rear panel - alternatively, a guitar can also be plugged in here and its sound shaped using the internal DSP effects. The vocals can be enhanced using the keyboard's "Vocal Harmony" and "Synth Vocoder" functions, creating an exciting and suspenseful performance.

A powerful and flexible keyboard
The Yamaha PSR-SX700 is aimed at experienced keyboard players looking for a high-performance keyboard that will give them a versatile selection of sounds and styles to impress the audience whatever the occasion - from weddings and birthdays through to Christmas concerts. All of the sounds are played with a 128-voice polyphony and can be amplified either via the internal speakers or via external audio devices connected to the outputs on the rear panel (the corresponding settings are made via the menu). The user can thus add a punchy bass response to their performance by connecting a powerful subwoofer or feed the signal to a mixing desk in order to allow a sound engineer to send the sound to a PA system. The scope of delivery includes a sheet music holder and a multilingual manual to provide a simple and easy introduction to the Yamaha PSR-SX700's full range of functions.

Customisable rhythms
Using the "Style Assembly" section of the menu, users can select a variety of styles that comprise different instruments such as drum kits, bass, and guitar. The "Chord Looper" additionally allows the user to record their own chord sequences and play them back as a continuous loop, thus freeing up their second hand to adjust the Yamaha PSR-SX700's parameters and thereby create exciting changes in their performance, e.g. using the reverb, chorus, or equaliser for filter sweeps. The register memory in turn makes it possible to store playlists with presets for songs, which can be recalled at the touch of a button, so individual backing tracks and customised performances can be created quickly and easily beforehand and nothing can go wrong during the performance itself.
