Quality microphone with excellent mechanical isolation.
CoreBSP 05.12.2017
I am using this mic for orchestral soloists and folk/dance bands all in live sound reinforcement settings. I have used it on Alto, Soprano, Bari, Tenor and Bass Sax. Its now my go-to microphone for these.

Starting with the mic itself I have used the C518 on drums for many years and needed a microphone cheaper than the DPA4099 for use on Saxophones. Like most brass instruments the issue with instrument clip-on mics is that frequently the mechanical noise generated by the keys is transmitted to the mic. The careful design of the AKG C series mics makes this negligible. - an excellent starting point.
The sound is excellent, well balanced and needs little EQ (assuming its well positioned - dont point it down the bell!).

The clip is powerful and has worked with all of the sizes of sax.

This version of the product is particularly useful because of the mini-XLR connector on the mic. This means that the lead can be replaced - or substituted with something like the WMS150 for use with wireless packs - which is my normal set up (with an AKG-Sennheiser adapter cable). The supplied cable allows use wired with phantom power. Best of both worlds.

There aren't really any bad points about this mic - its a great mic that does the job really well, sounds natural and is a joy to work with. So much so Im looking to get another couple of these. :)

This is the best.no reason to spend more money.
flat eq makes you feel safe and very easy to build your sound on the stage and studio.
very good build quality and package.the cable is long enough for you to play like you are not wired :D
I've already try it on big stage, small bars and big studios.always the same "safety"'.just plug it and play.
But..you have to be careful because there is no mic in front of the bell. Try its best position to avoid loose a few notes like the the middle b and c or low e and f and achieve the best eq without move any knob!

RJ
really good quality mic

I bought this for my flute, fixed it on with velcro and I love it. It has a good clear sound, sits comfortably on my instrument and I have no feedback issues, even when playing in quite loud situations. Also not too much breath sound or key clattering. I like it enough to buy another one for my sax, which it clips onto easily.

I'm using this for my Con-Selmer Alto 1936 and it pairs really well.
The sounds, the tone, everything is caught just as I'd want.
