Good and heavy boom-boom
Bronson 21.03.2020
Gives a clear kick sound. Good features in sound. Remains clear under high SPL. The little plastic switch feels a bit cheap but does the job.

I really like this mic its quite versatile. I have used it on Snare, Kick, Vocals love it on bass and on guitar. The switchable EQ is quite handy for shaping on the way in and the -10db pad is a smart feature or just leave it off and you can get a more open sound and EQ in your DAW. Its nice on guitar for a change sometimes too.

GD
Excellent Vocal Mic with No phantom power
Gee Double U 24.01.2025
The D12 was designed as a vocal mic. Then it got discovered on kick/bass. This is an excellent vocal mic with the full tonal spectrum and clarity only when no phantom power is engaged. Sounds beautiful and It takes EQ very well! With phantom power engaged, there is a slight hiss and the tone sucks. Definitely not worth the additional tone varying switch. Stupid! AKG definitely screwed that up! Bad design! Keeping it to sing on it without phantom power!

I wanted to get myself a more retro sounding kick mick to have an alternate to my Audix D6. But after I had played with passive mode, I went for the filters, and oh my - especially the far right filter, sounded so good. So, a very versatile mic, seems solidly built. If it can last the same amount of time my D6 lasted and lasts (7 years of daily use) I could ask for nothing more.
