AKG Mic Review
Purchased the AKG D40 for use on a drum kit, build quality is fantastic.
It feels very robust with a good strong front mesh that should prevent any damage from flying drum sticks.
The mic comes with dual thread sizes so there's no need to look for an adapter if your thinking of using it on a stand.
The supplied plastic mounting clip looks like the plastic won't last but don't be fooled, it's allot more robust than it looks.
Sound quality is good with little EQ required to produce a great sound.
I have yet to use it on a guitar amp but my guess is that it will handle SPL's well.
Very compact in size, you really can't go wrong with this, definitely going to place an order for some more.

Amazing price/quality ratio
Extremely good for the price. Has almost no background noise in a room (bedroom studio style) which has a fridge and some other machinery hurring. Perfect for recording vocals or instruments, even table drumming works fine (with some post-effect adjustment hehe).
Really recommended!
So far, nothing not to be liked!

Balanced guitar sound
I've had this mic for two years and I'm very happy. Today I did a proper test with different mic's in different positions, relative to the cone of the speaker. I was surprised how good it sounded on its own.
Until now I used a Behringer C1 together with the D40 but now I know the D40 sounds better than the C1. The recordings have more clarity. It has more than enough bass, even while recording an 8 inch Jensen C8R. The best position for me is a finger away from the grill and the edge if the cone in the middle of the mic.

Best value microphone I have ever bought.
This mic is great! Looks smart and feels like a premium build.
I am using this mic for all my snares and hats for drums, as well as for my Fender Deluxe valve amp when playing guitars or keys - both for live and recording this thing can handle it all!
It even sounds pretty great for vocals! Not that this is the officially recommended use for this mic I believe, but nevertheless I haven't heard anything bad come out of this whether it's drums, bass, guitars, keys, or vocals!
Value: 10/10
Experience: 10/10

Good one !
After seeing a set of microphone reviews for amps I decided to buy this microphone. It has a wide frequency range, picks up every detail of the amp's output and sounds great.
The purpose was to buy to record with the guitar amplifier, but I have already tried to record voice and it sounds good, even if it is not designed for that. It is a dynamic microphone with a good cost to the quality.
I do not like to buy something just because everyone uses it. I liked the sound and decided to take the risk and I'm happy. The quality is very good.
It has a good metal finish, has a good distribution of weight and is very small. I can not find negative points so far.

An alaround mic !
i wanted a dynamic mic at budget ...
you can use this for guitar amps , maybe as a second mic for bass amps, for toms and snare , brass instruments and more ..
Decent sound quality , nice low ends and surprisingly very pleasing highs ..
I'm thinking to buy some more of these for toms ..!
After months of using this i haven't found one negative feat.
Overall very happy with this purchase!

Amazing snare mic
This is my favourite snare mic when I'm doing FOH in live clubs, if the snare sounds good you just need to push up the fader and you are ok.
