The K 712 of AKG I have added as a replacement for the K 701, which me in the mid-high range still enthusiastically, but in the bass simply not satisfied. He sounded "thin" in the lower layers.

On the K 712 the first thing to notice is the peppy design in my eyes (due to the orange color accents), which continues in haptic details such as the detachable cable and the leather headband. If the former can be replaced by an enclosed spiral cable, the latter greatly increases the wearing comfort, the bumps in the headband of the K 701 always led to an unpleasant feeling of pressure.

Also new are the gel-filled ear pads, which I do not find so comfortable when wearing, I feel a bit narrowed. Nevertheless, the K 712 is very easy to carry.
But now to the most important, the sound: the K 712 revealed weaknesses in Mixes just as ruthless, as the 701 did. If a voice is recorded too present, the S-lute, cymbals and triangels are not cut off, but are also harshly depicted depending on the micro used. In contrast, you can hear the smallest decay sound in guitar strings, without the heights becoming too much in the foreground.

In the middle range, the K 712 sounds fuller, without the need for amplification, voices now have just the right volume. Acoustic instruments sound even more natural than the K 701. Real headphones also make the headphones really big without exaggerating.
However, I find the bass dreamy: the timpani and the bassdrum have exactly the body, which I have always missed at the 701, organ-basses "breathe" now correctly. If I had the 701 the Bassregler at the Mastern rather too far-turned, does not happen to me anymore.

Compared to the K 701 (and also the K 702, which I have ever compared with the 701), the K 712 now represents an enormous advance for me.

A Genu

Joachim357, 20.06.2013
I have the AKG 712 added to a small space my mixtures on depth staggering and panorama settings to control. Previously I had an AKG K 240 DF (diffuse field equalizer), with which I was already very satisfied, used.
The AKG 712 fulfills all my requirements in the best way, especially the bass range is precisely and clearly depicted, a pleasure to work with this part!
