Just what the doctor ordered.
Bought a new, quite expesive, strat-style guitar over the inter-web. But when doing a quick setup, I noticed the pickups seemed to not be properly tightened. Turned out the silicone tube "springs"/bushings for the pickups was completely dried out, causing it to crack and fall of. All the pickups had the same issue. Makes you wonder what kind of conditions the guitar has been seen / been stored under after its completion at the factory.
I've now replaced all of the silicone bushings with this product, and it does the job perfectly! There's enough tubing for quite a few replacements, since you don't need much per screw. We'll see how long they last, though. I ordered 2 packs,, just in case. But since I hardly had to use anything from the first one, I'll have tubing for years to come.

Classic solution but it won't last forever.
I've been using this instead of the classic springs on my strats the last 20 years with great success.
Cut it to the right length (subjective) install it and that's it. The longer the length, the tighter it will be (that also translates into the fact that you will be able to set the pickups lower, provided you are using longer screws).
I've beem using them to both conventional Fender single coils and SC sized Dimarzio humbuckers with success.
Just keep in mind that after a few years (depends on the use, conditions etc.) it will lose its elasticity so you will have to replace it eventually.
