cheap and easy wireless System
Anonymous 18.06.2014
I bought the Audio-Technica Wireless System because I couldn't use my old Shure PG-System any longer, because of the new frequencies for mobile internet. This System uses the 2,4Ghz frequencies, so it's free all over the world!

The System 10 is a really easy "plug and play" System. Transmitter and Receiver are pairing automatically. You only connect your instrument and start playing.
I use it with my bass. With an passive one, everything is fine, but with my active one i have to turn down the volume or the receiver will clip.

The Sounding is neutral. No Low-end loss.

Until now, i notice no problems. Also no interferences because of a WLAN-router.
Only the special cable you have to buy for the connection with the transmitter is to expensive.

p
AT System 10 - Bodypack kit
pawela 04.04.2015
The System 10 bodypack kit comes without a microphone, or guitar cable - so it actually costs more, as you'll have to spend extra, unless you're already using AudioTechnica microphone/cable. Manufacturer states that usefull range in line-of-sight, open air environment is ~30 meters. I've tested the system indoors with aerials folded, and receiver hidden in a wooden cupboard, and microphone about 18-20 meters away behind a small partition in the same room and it worked. I wanted to be sure that when installed in rockbag rack it will operate ok. The distance between transmitter and receiver in my setup is less than 10m.
Compared to analogue it sounds cleaner. There's however one problem using digital transmitter, as I've noticed - some lapel microphones, when positioned close to the aerial will pick up digital noise. (I had lapel microphone about 1-3cm from transmitters aerial) And initially I suspected the system faulty, but when the mic was at normal distance it worked fine. Always make sure the speaker doesn't put the transmitter in a jacket pocket just behind the microphone.
Bodypack uses the same button to turn on/off and to mute the transmitter, there's however an option to disable 'mute' function (which I did), so transmitter will always stay on.
Power supply unit which came with the kit had originally two plug adapters euro and uk. The quality is very good, despite the both transmitter and receiver are plastic.

Freedom!

So nice to play my bass without wires under my feet and round my legs. I have gigged my System 10 about 15 times with no problems. Doesn't colour your tone at all as far as I can tell and never missed a note I play, even the occasional bum one.
My only real gripe is that the box does not include a bodypack instrument lead so had to purchase one separately. Otherwise excellent product. Very happy. Well packed by Thomann and delivered to my door quickly. Good info tracking my parcel too.

Used this with the clip on audio technica microphone for sax for years now. Reliable every single time. Tried many other systems and this is by far the best.
