Audix DP5-A Drum Microphone Set

I recently got the Audix DP5-A Drum Microphone Set from Thomann, and honestly it exceeded my expectations for both live and studio recording. The whole package feels professional right out of the box, with solid build quality and very durable microphones that can easily handle heavy studio use and loud drummers.

The D6 on the kick drum is the standout of the set. It delivers a deep, punchy low end with a clean attack that instantly gives the kick a modern rock sound without needing much EQ. It captures the weight of the drum while still keeping clarity and definition.

The D2 and D4 microphones work incredibly well on toms. They have a focused sound with strong mids and enough low-end body to make the toms feel powerful and full in the mix. They also reject bleed surprisingly well, which makes mixing much easier.

What I like most about the DP5-A is how fast it gets professional results. Even with minimal processing, the drums already sound mix-ready. The microphones capture attack, dynamics, and detail very naturally, especially for rock, fusion, and heavier styles.

Another big advantage is the mounting system — setup is quick, clean, and reliable. Everything feels built for real-world recording sessions and live performance situations.

Thomann shipped everything perfectly, and the microphones arrived safely packed and in excellent condition. Overall, this is one of the best drum mic packages for the price, especially if you want professional drum recordings without spending a fortune on individual microphones.

I've been using this mic set for about two years already in studio to record drums and sometimes on stage (local punk/metal gigs). The sound they give is just fantastic! The manufacture says that all mics are already pre-equalized so you should get a punchy and powerful sound right out of them without any effects and that's really great feature and it just works! It makes you your work simpler when you are making a mix, it's easier to make your drums sound powerful and aggressive. On the stage you don't even need to adjust EQ on the mixing desk - the kick sounds punchy, the snare cuts the mix, toms are full of volume. So I really satisfied with that product, IMO this s the best drum mic set on the market. Before I used Sennheiser 600 set and sometimes Shure drums sets but found Audix really better.
