The legend

Overview:

I bought 2 of these for a 2x12 cab I built based on their reputation and from demos. You really need to hear these in the flesh because listening to them via a recording really does them no justice, they sound fantastic. Compared to other speakers I own they're in a league of their own! They truly are a key ingredient in getting your perfect tone, I changed my pickups and amp head but these speakers really brought my sound to life.

Sound:

These speakers are 60 watt - 16 ohm, as stated in the product description. There's plenty of volume on tap and they're perfect for everything from blues to metal. The bass and mid response is simply perfect for my style, it fills out the room in a warm glaze of sound. The treble is cut back slightly leading to rich creamy highs that don't sound too sharp and shrill, think Slash's Velvet Revolver tone. Of course you could always match it with a G12T-75 or two to add treble to a 2/4x12, if that's your style, as they collaborate very well. It should be noted that like all speakers, they need to be broken in to achieve their full potential. My ones are almost broken in and they still sound amazing, cannot wait 'til they're properly worn in!

Conclusion:

If you always wanted a rich warm tone that never sounds fizzy or muddy then these are for you. The slight boost in the mids will have you cutting right through the bands mix wthout being overpowering and bring you to rock stardom! Of course it's a matter of personal taste but I've found my favourite speaker and I don't think there'll be any looking back!

an absolute classic with a classic sound

the speaker is majestic. it will open up your amp. the dynamics is enormous, and with an open back cabinet it sounds as if it has an in-built reverb. recommended for all vintage sound lovers.

Unbeatable works for all

Hey there,

What to say that have not already tested & reviewed about except confirm that it's a great speaker to play alone and in a band.

This 16 Ohms version allows me to use an amp that doesn't not accept 8 Ohms speaker.

This is definitively the go to speaker and you can't go wrong by buying one.

Cheers

Excellent speakers!
Stefano76 18.03.2021
I replaced the "old" Celestion GT12-75 speakers in my Marshall 1936 cabinet and I can really say ... that now is another story !
Excellent sound quality, with much clarity and definition.
Each note I play is loud and clear compared to the GT12-75 speakers, that seemed sound like they were "close in a box".
I'm very happy. Thanks Thomann !!!

It is perfect for drive sounds with closed cab. If used open back cab, it has too much high mids on clean tones.

Celestion Vintage 30 - 16 Ohms - the one and only!
HenryJay 01.10.2014
Vintage 30 is your choice, if you are looking for the best all-around speaker. Many speakers may be good or even excellent for one certain application, but the Vintage 30 covers all possible sounds ranging from classic vintage to modern. And the price is not too bad either. I have tested and compared numerous speakers and the Vintage 30 was a superb winner, a versatile speaker to play all kinds of music. One interesting choice in search of perfection would be using a 2 x 12 cabinet with one Vintage 30 and one Celestion Greenback, but 1 x 12 Vintage 30 is almost as good!

Best speaker ever for every genre
Anonymous 19.01.2016
These speakers are amazing. Can be used for 80% off any kind of music. Sound warm, full and bright. Very powerfull sound with tube amps.

I play on a Sound City 120 and my friend a London city DEA 100.. These speakers blow away everybody.

Good tip is to wait untill the market price gets lower. It's changes alot. The price can get higher also offcourse!!

The can handle alot of power and have a big sound.

Don't know what speakers you need for your kind of music? 8 on 10 Vintage 30 speakers will sound perfect!
