Ich spiele nur Flatwounds auf meinen Archtops, bisher meistens 12er oder 13er. Jetzt wollte ich einen Satz mit glatter (nicht umwickelt) g-Saite ausprobieren, weil der Unterschied zwischen gewickelten und glatten Saiten immer deutlicher wird, je älter der Satz ist.
Die 10er Daddarios klingen zunächst einmal deutlich brillanter als die 12er Thomastik, die vorher drauf waren, hat aber auch mit dem Saitenwechsel alt - neu zu tun. Besonders angenehm spielt sich die glatte g-saite, sie hebt sich klanglich nicht von h- bzw. e-Saite ab, Das Klangbild ist ausgewogener, aber natürlich spielt die Gitarre selbst da auch noch mit.
Das Spielgefühl ist hervorragend, es gibt für mich keinen Grund, wieder zu den dickeren Saiten zurückzukehren. Ausprobiert habe ich die Saiten auf einer Super 400.
Wer also eine Archtop spielt, kann damit prima klarkommen und wird vom Klang nicht enttäuscht.
