May the force be with you... exactly 5 volts.
Stephen662 15.07.2013
Needed this to supply 5 volts to some of the modules in my Doepfer case. Yes, some modules (usually logic modules) need 5v to work, and this is what you need.

Simply plugs into the rail that you need to supply the 5v on - if you have 5v modules all over your rack you will need to instal one on each rail as required. Job done. Works a treat.

You might not think you need this but you probably will
Anonymous 20.01.2016
This little adaptor will allow you to run anything which requires a +5v power supply on one power rail of your modular case. I bought it because it was required for an oscillator which I purchased, but it can have many applications. My next use for it will be to power LED lights to illuminate my modular in gig situations. You simply connect the adaptor to a spare connector on the rail which you will need it, and then you have +5v power available for all the other connectors on that rail. My one reservation is that this could have been a little bit cheaper for what it does, or alternatively Doepfer could just build this provision into their modular cases as standard. After all a P9 case, for example, is not cheap and when you have spent that amount of money you kind of resent having to buy this.

Tough one to rate as it's just a plug... but if you have products from Mutable Instruments and others that require 5-Volt power it's a necessity for a Doepfer rack. It couldn't be any simpler to use, just plug it in and away you go.

Again, good value too.

Easy method to get a small amount of 5v
intrancewetrust 09.05.2019
It was easy enough to install, I worry that the sticker might come off and I wont remember which way up it goes! It provides the 5v with no issues, but its quite a small amount. In future I will just look for a case that has 5v as standard I think.

MT
power supply
Meg T. 25.09.2014
It's a bit superfluous to do a review for a power supply, but this was a key component for me in building my modular as I had a couple of modules which require 5v rather than 12v.

The item arrived in Australia in good condition, fitted easily into my already constructed Doepfer rig, and works flawlessly. Very pleased with the product and the delivery times from Thomann.

When you need it, this is a great option!
Anonymous 27.11.2016
I started off with analogue modules and then bought a Gorf-XL sequencer. Couldn't for the life of me understand why it wouldn't work on my system - needs 5v! Got this - job done!

I seem to just buy things I didn't realise I needed until I needed them and when I do they just work!

Many of the new digital Eurorack modules need 5v which the Doepfer Kits don't come with as standard. You might never need it but when you do this is a perfect option.

Pros - easy, cheap 5v solution for when you need it.

Cons - nothing (but Doepfer and other Euro manufacturers really should start sing shrouded connectors so users dont plug stuff in backwards!).

If you need 5v in your system - get this!

Indispensable if you need 5v
Anonymous 21.05.2015
If you have a module in your eurorack that needs a 5v supply, you're going to need one of these. An example is the Sputnik 6 channel mixer, and some midi to cv interfaces. Product is simplicity itself - just plug it in to a spare slot on the rail you want 5v on, and the job's done. Probably easy enough to make yourself, but at this price, why bother. Just make sure you plug it in the right way round, as there is some margin for error here - red stripe goes at the bottom!
