Bought the pancake gong drum to enhance the sonic range of the kit..It works like a charm,is solidly built(the metal arch that conforms to the shell minimizes wobble and stress) and sounds perfect! Lows like a bass drum,but with significally different character,sweet and punchy at the same time.Only drawback is the factory-installed single-ply head.A double-ply head with a ring makes a big change and i would recommend it.Overall,a great addition to any kit,though a bit pricey.

Bought this item, because of the price. I love a gong drum, also had it in another setup. But this one has a better selling price. It works for me, just a double ply head on it and of we go. Tuned it very low. Live with a bassdrummic is kickass!
