An excellent set of coated strings
It has been years since I made the switch to coated strings and I have no regrets.
I was getting really annoyed with normal electric guitar strings, those nickel plated ones just don't last in my use. But these Elixir coated strings are a whole different thing, they last for ages and still sound as good as new - Deep lows and brilliant highs.
Now about this particular set "made for" 7 string guitars.
I use this set on a normal 25,5" scale six string guitar which I tune to C Standard.
So I'm only using the following gauges: 013-017-026-036-046-056. I have no use for the 010 gauge string. This setup works really well, although the low string could be a little more beefier - something like 058 or even 059.
I haven't tried this set with a seven string, but since I find the low string a tad too loose in C I'd bet that the low B is a little too much on the floppy side. Of course this is a matter of personal preference and this is only my opinion.
Nevertheless these strings are almost perfect and I recommend them for everyone to atleast try out once.

Almost perfect 7-string set!
About 4 years ago I started using Elixir-strings exclusively on my basses. They sounded great and kept that tone for months. Of course I had to try these on my guitars as well...
This set of strings sounds very good. I would say "balanced with a slightly recessed brilliance/top-end" describes them very well. I mostly play progressive metal, so there is a healthy combination of heavy distortion, clean and some things in between and these strings work great for everything. The low B sounds tight, even in bigger, distorted chords but works just as well with a clean amp without dragging mud in your soundscape. I tried a lot of the most recommended strings out there, but found none which were significantly better than the Elixirs.
The only downside for me is the thickness of the low B-string. The tension is a bit too low for my taste.
The price is a lot higher compared to uncoated strings but they sound fresh for months! The set on my guitar is now 3 months old and cleans still are brilliant and beautiful. The strings feel like new as well. There are some dark spots on the coating where you normally pick but the sound has not changed yet. You should give them a try if you haven't.

Excellent as always
What can I say, Elixirs are the only strings I use these days. The coating holds, the sound holds and I change strings every few months or so. Additionally, the coating helps your hand slide, which is something I've become accustomed to and I seek from my strings.
I'm deducting one point due to their VERY aggressive pricing. While the cost can be amortized over time, it still stings your wallet a bit. Highly recommended

Very good strings
It is no secret that I prefer Elixir over all other brands. They have incredible durability, sound amazing and the tone is preserved 'till the day they snap. This set is no different and is a great choice for 7-string. But, it isn't without it's flaws, or rather a flaw, to me at least. The 56 for the low b gets too loose with a 25,5" scale. A 59 or 60 would have been a better choice, for me at least. But I know a lot of 7-string guys who prefer a 56, and regardless this set sings. Would definitely buy again.
