Nice case but what's up with the length?

I got this case for my Epiphone EB-0. My EB-0 is the older and generally poorer Chinese version (heavily modifed, only the wood is original).

I normally prefer gig bags for carrying basses around but I'm moving soon and need a couple of extra cases for transport. I don't need sturdy flight cases as it's just a 30min drive but I've got 26 basses and only half that many cases. Throwing basses into the back of a moving van in gig bags is asking for trouble.

I figured it would be nice to have a dedicated case for the EB-0 as the fragile tilted headstock makes most standard cases unsuitable (even if the bass may physically fit it will lean on the fragile headstock). I've put so much work and money into making this instrument useful that I'd hate to break it now.

The bass fits snugly into the case except that the neck end of the case is considerably longer than the bass. I didn't measure it but there must have been at least 10 cm of empty space above the headstock. The bass sits securely in the case so it's not a big issue but why make the case unnecessary long? I can only see two possible answers: Either for better stabililty when carrying it or because the case is also supposed to fit long scale Gibson SG basses.

Build quality seems very good but I've only had it in storage for 2 weeks so it's far too soon to say really.

The only real negative is the placement of the handle. The angle of the handle when carrying it makes it wobble around a bit. Trying to lift the front/back when walking up/down stairs makes it veer off sideways. But pretty much all guitar shaped cases with the handle in this position behave like this. Personally I find it a bit annoying but the only way to avoid it would be getting a rectangular case instead and those won't be ideal for the EB-0. Like I said before: The bass may fit inside but the bass will be leaning on the fragile tilted headstock.

Unless you're prepared to pay for an expensive custom made flight case there's not really any other safe options (besides gig bags) for the EB-0.

I certainly recommend this case if you transport your EB-0 a lot by car. For simply carrying it around I would personally prefer a gig bag. For air travel I wouldn't trust it at all but the same could be said for any standard guitar case in this price range.
