The EV ETX-12P is an active 12" speaker with integrated DSP, limiter, and FIR filtering – though its most immediately noteworthy feature is its organic, natural sound. It's robust, flexible, and powerful, so it's just as at home in a gigging and touring context as it is in a permanent installation. The top units of the ETX series are available in 10", 12", and 15" sizes, and two matching 15" and 18" subs are available as well. The ETX speakers are Electro-Voice's flagship range, and as such they're recommended for professional musicians, bands, DJs, and anyone who provides sound for live entertainment. The series boasts a number of technical innovations, such as the QuickSmart DSP – more on that below. But one thing is sure: These are speakers that have been designed to take on any challenge.
Accept no compromises in sound and performance: Like its siblings, the EV ETX-12P has a powerful 2000W Class D power amplifier with an efficiency grade that means it keeps cool even in the hottest environments. For maximum punch, the unit's SMX 12" bass speaker and DH3-B 1.25" titanium compression tweeter operate inside a 18mm thick, 13-ply, road-ready birch plywood chassis. The maximum sound pressure level is a whopping 135dB. The frequency range is 43Hz–20kHz, with a dispersion angle of 90°x60. For the crossovers, Electro-Voice uses FIR filter technology, as found in the company's large concert speaker systems. The proprietary FIR drive design optimises the transducer's linearity for a precise, balanced sound output.
Flexibility and workflow are very important aspects of the ETX series: The ETX-12P has two adjustable XLR/jack inputs for microphone and line signals, and can be paired with another speaker can be controlled via the XLR output. The integrated QuickSmart Pro DSP makes a convincing case with its intuitive menu navigation via rotary encoder and LCD, input level control, and master volume control, as well as special dispersion control technology for the subwoofers. A parametric EQ is on board for fine-tuning the sound or eliminating unwanted frequencies, as well as delay adjustment and different presets for all possible scenarios (Club, Live, Music, and Speech) and locations. Last but not least, the ETX-12P comes with a convenient setup wizard that helps users of all experience levels to install different top/sub combinations.
Electro-Voice was founded in 1927 and has been dedicated to building sound reinforcement systems and microphones since the 1930s. The firm, originally based in Indiana, USA, is considered one of the industry pioneers and has developed many new technologies still in use today. For example, their hum-cancelling coil was not only a milestone for microphone construction, but also was at the origin of the humbucker pickups still used in many guitars. In the long history of the company, Electro-Voice has constantly expanded its offer and today sells a wide range of products for sound reinforcement tasks from entry to professional levels.
Thanks to its bevelled shape, dual-tilt stand flange, and eight mounting points – as well as its solid, concert-grade construction – the EV ETX-12P will feel at home on every stage and in every setup, whether it's permanently installed or used as a mobile side-fill, monitor, or front-of-house PA speaker. Designed for everyday touring and band life, the ETX speaker family brings a high level of performance and sound fidelity to the stage and offers suitable expansion possibilities with the ETX-10P and ETX-15P tops; the ETX-15SP and ETX-18SP subwoofers provide the necessary low end for concerts and clubs. But that doesn't just mean the biggest stages; even the most ambitious acoustic duos, DJs, and solo entertainers will find that ETX performance speakers tick all the boxes, in terms of audio quality, usability, and durability.
