Size Matters

Arguably the most important question to consider when choosing a pedal board is the question of size. This one is quite big, with plenty of room to fit lots of stuff.

It's obvious they meant it to be stepped on. The construction is rock solid and the board itself is positioned at a nice angle, which is a great selling point and in my opinion makes it stand out from the briefcase-type boards out there. (I haven't tried one of those, I must admit.) It's quite heavy, though. I guess this is the downside of a rock solid construction; however, even without pedals attached, carrying the thing around can be a challenge.

The gig bag makes carrying easier and offers adequate protection.

The slots provided for mains cables are more than adequate, although it would be nice to have grooves or rails to guide the cables neatly in and out. Underneath the unit you get fixing holes for power units, although I haven't been able to fix anything there so far.

The price is lower than other products of this range, which in no way indicates poor quality.

Overall, highly recommended if the size is right for you.

...is the most important thing when you use several pedals.

For a long time I never had problem like this, because I ran through a multieffects board and had the footswitch of my amp. But when I added three compact pedals, I needed to have a pedalboard.

The Gator is very big, but I need the size because I still use my multieffects board and the JVM footswitch is very big. The attachment with velcro tapes is a common standard, but what I miss is some slots to arrange the cables under the board instead of on it.

But that's ok, because the price makes it very affordable. The bag is pretty good in order to protect the pedals, but if you want them to be 100% save, you really should consider to buy a board with a hard case.

One negative point: The board is made from wood which makes it heavier than a aluminium board like the pedaltrain. But hey, this thing is really solid and nearly undestroyable - at last this is the most important fact for me.

A decent quality and size for a realistic price

Shopping around for the perfect pedal board is a nightmare. A lot of these things are cheaply made and offer very little in terms of space to play with. Most companies who make pedal boards really pile on an absurd price for what it essentially is: a slab of plywood covered in tolex with a carry bag. There are countless rip-off merchants out there doing exactly that.

Gator are not one of them.

When I saw the price of this board I breathed a sigh of relief after trawling online stores and being put off by all the extortionate price tags being tagged to smaller products. So, I hit BUY.

Definitely not disappointed. There's plenty of room to play with on this thing, the velcro base and non-slatted design gives you a lot more flexibility than most other boards on the market, and the carry bag is extremely durable and hard-wearing. I have carried this thing with the strap when it has been fully-loaded with every pedal I own, and the only thing buckling under the strain and weight was me! The carry bag will still be going strong when I have long since had to retire to a wheelchair because my back and knees have gone. :)

This is a must-buy for the gigging musician who needs space, flexibility, durability and ease of use at a realistic and fair price. Forget the expensive alternatives, they never live up to the price tag.

Very satisfied for a fair price

Firt things first: This thing is huge! So if you're looking for something for comfortably hanging your effects round your shoulder and riding to your rehearsal room by bike you might be better off with the smaller version which is half the size of this one.

This Pedalboard is pretty light but still seems very strong and offers enough place for more stompers than you will ever need. Challenge accepted? If so: Patch cables are no problem, but connectors might be a better decision to fit more pedals on the board.

Three stabilizer guarantee that the board won't collapse even with a heavy Pedal-Dancer and the stompers don't loosen themselves either. the Velcro might be not as beautifully arranged as you might want it to be, still it fits its purpose.

I bought the pedalboard because of its tempting prize and the beautful gigbag which makes it a great alternative to the more conventional pedal cases.

Overall, as you might assume by now, I'm quite happy with this thing.

Big enough.

A good, big well made case for foot pedals. It is sturdy and should suit the needs of most guitarists, although I think it could prove a bit heavy if fully loaded with equipment.

Great quality for a great price

There are several solutions for the deployment of ones effect chain. This one offers a very solid basis, so that it is very well able to endure all necessities for a life on stage. One can stand on it and it will not break. Furthermore it offers a lot of space for a variety of effects. I have 6 pedals in usual Boss size, a Moog with expression pedal and a power strip on it. The price is great as well. Of course there is one or another deficite to it. The bag is a softbag, a case would offer more stability/security and it would make sure, that the knobs of the effects won't alter their standing. Additionally it would be great to have more gaps in between, so that it would be possible to do the wiring below the surface. It looks better and is anyway more expedient. Anyway, together with the possibilty to screw a Gator power supply underneath it, this one is just great!

Big and heavy.
Paulrivans 06.05.2015
Very well made and once loaded with power pack underneath and filled with your pedals it does get heavy.
I've mounted my jvm pedal, and 10 fx pedals all neatly setup the Velcro is heavy duty so nothing moves, and does move on the floor. I've since cut out some channels to help reduce weight as my pedal board layout is now fixed.
Bag is a good fit and I've made up a send and return cable loom which just rolls up in top with a protect sponge layer and all goes into bag nicely. Great device, that German efficiency all over!
