the better duct-tape
This tape is a somewhat in-between. It feels like black duct tape, and sticks like real gaffer's tape. Good for surfaces like walls, cables and everything that's more valuable than a cardboard box or rubber floor protection. It sticks well, although a little less than the tesa 4613 initially, but it leaves absolutely no sticky residue and generally doesn't damage paint on walls. On areas with previous damage small pieces can still stick to the tape (the cheap tape caused that damage btw).
If the black matte finish and better structure of the Gerband 258 is not needed, this is a good alternative to save a buck and you from cleaning cables. I won't buy cheap black duct tape any more - unless others have to handle it with their stuff. My equipment ain't worthy of anything cheaper than this ;-)

Strong, but leaves some glue when removed

Good but not as good as the 258 BK
This leaves no residue as advertised. However, I can't get as enthusiastic about it as the 258 BK because tearing bits off the roll nearly always leaves a few threads dangling which is slightly annoying.
