Attraktiv liegt sie n ihrem Koffer, und griffig fühlt sie sich an, die bauchig-geschwungene schwarze ES 335, seit 1958 eines der großen Erfolgsmodelle von Gibson. Das „Ebony“ Finish ist sicher etwas ungewöhnlich für eine ES 335, es steht ihr aber ausgezeichnet.
Die Semi-Hollowbody-Konstruktion verleiht der vielseitigen Gitarre einen charakteristischen Sound, einsetzbar in Blues, Rock und Jazz. Während der hohle Korpus aus dreilagigem Ahorn-Pappel-Laminat von einem massiven Centerblock verstärkt wird, der Eigenresonanzen und damit Feedbacks minimieren und zugleich das Sustain erhöhen soll, liegt der geleimte Mahagonihals mit dem angenehm rundlichen „Rounded C“-Profil optimal in der Hand. Zwei kräftige „T-Type“-Tonabnehmer liefern kraftvollen und dynamischen Sound, die sowohl im Cleanbereich als auch im Overdrive überzeugen.
Der „Gibson Memphis Tone Circuit“ mit „Orange Drop“-Kondensatoren garantiert außerdem vielseitige Klangfarben und seidige Treble Roll-Offs.

Wer eine Reissue bzw. VOS preislich zu abgehoben findet, kann mit dieser Version nur alles richtig machen, zumal Gibson die ES in den letzten Jahren wieder in Nashville bauen lässt, was anscheinend zu einer Aufwertung geführt hat.
Äußerlich mag sie auf manch einen eher schlicht wirken, für mich sieht sie einfach nur gut aus.
