Very poorly finished guitar, very disappointed
On inspecting my new guitar I found the following issues:
binding very badly finished with small gouges out of the fretboard, rough frets, bits of dried polishing compound stuck to the lacquer, some fisheye marks in the lacquer, top of headstock poorly finished, control cavity cover plate fitted crooked, a shallow indentation in the wood at the back of the body, some marks on the bridge pickup cover. My 2017 Les Paul Classic T has none of these issues. The guitar is sitting in its box in the hall ready to be returned tomorrow. I was really looking forward to this purchase, to say I am disappointed is an understatement and would not purchase a new Gibson again unless I could inspect it first as Gibson quality control can't be trusted unfortunately.

Let down by very poor finish
Having waited weeks for the guitar to come into stock I was looking forward to the delivery of the LP.
Unfortunately in terms of the finish the guitar did not live up to my expectations.
The binding around the body was not finished properly in a number of locations - there was a obvious "lip" at the junction with the timber.
At the nut there was a 30mm long groove at the junction of the binding and the neck.
The cable jack was also loose.
The guitar came with a card listing all the checks that had apparently been made by Gibson prior to shipping. This guitar should not have been shipped in this condition.
The quality of finish would be unacceptable for a guitar a fraction of the cost of a Gibson LP. Indeed, I have previously owned Tokai, Ibanez, Fender and Epiphone guitars which had flawless finishes. I think Gibson should take some lessons on quality from the Japanese and Chinese.
The guitar sounds good and the "features" were as expected. Hence 5 stars for these categories.
I have bought many products from Thomann in the past without any problems. However I returned this guitar and I not be buying Gibson again.
