Best bang-for-buck ever if you need a 2x12 cab
Hilario G. 23.11.2013
This is the cheaper version of the Harley Benton G212 Vintage 2x12” cabinet for guitar amplifiers. The price is slightly lower and the reason for this is the manufacturer's choice of two 12” generic, Chinese made speakers rather than the more expensive, albeit also made in China by Celestion, Vintage 30 speakers. For what is, I very much doubt there is a better priced guitar cabinet in the market. Anything else available is either a much worse product or simply a more expensive product.
The parcel in which I received the cab was very well packaged and made its journey from Germany to the north of England in perfect condition. The box felt rock solid and the cabinet contained inside the boxt felt really sturdy straight away as well.
The G212 cabinet looked truly professional. It did not look or felt much different from a previous Mesa cabinet I bought a few years ago. To be fair, when I placed the order, I worried about being disappointed when I had the product in front of me but I could not more wrong as the cab that I had received looked as good as I thought and more.
Specs wise, the mono/stereo switch is a really useful addition, the black tolex seems hardwearing enough and handles feel strong and inspire confidence. The front panel is attached to the chassis by some extremely strong Velcro. I could not resist pulling the front grille cloth off and have a peep inside: the 8 ohm speakers look well-built although they carry no logo whatsoever so their origin is unknown. Still, I believe they must be made in China to keep costs to a minimum without compromising quality. The wood is indeed thick, decent looking plywood and there is even some padding inside to improve the tone.
I tried the cab with a JTM45-ish amp head and the tone was powerful and focused. From what I could see from my quick inspection, the speakers themselves are not badly built and the tone is indeed very similar to the new Chinese Celestion G12T-75 speakers. They are brilliant for metal styles for sure. For ‘softer’ styles you might prefer the Vintage version with Celestion Vintage30s, though.
All in all, I am very satisfied with a great quality product that is certainly well-priced.

A reliable workhorse
Anonymous 21.08.2015
I bought this cab as an upgrade to the whole of my rig, as I was buying a head to go with it and going to replace my old Roland microcube. Needless to say the difference in power of sound was astounding, with the ability to push all the air in very large rooms being suddenly available. The cab has 2 surprisingly full sounding cheap 100watt speakers, meaning you can run some very high wattage amps through it easily without taking up all of the space in the house, and combined with the closed back plywood build of the cabinet make it a very good cabinet for vintage and modern metal. This is because it picks up any changes in midrange very well and also has a very good bass response. Not so tight it sounds thin, but not so flubby it sound unfocused. It also breaks up nicely when pairing it with amps such as the Orange Micro Terror, giving good ambient bluesy tones if you throw a reverb or short delay in front of the amp. The cabinet feels as sturdy as an iron beam, and could easily withstand several good knocks and drops before needing a bit of repair work. All in all, I'd consider this a fantastic first time 2x12, as well as a very good way to test out different speakers as it has a stereo mode that allows easy A/B comparisons.

JP
A Sturdy Guitar 2x12" Guitar Cab
Juha P. 12.09.2013
Now, there are two ways to consider a HB G212 guitar cab: first is to accept it as it is. A sturdy, incredible inexpensive guitar cabinet sounding perfectly good for most genres (including hard rock, blues, and even heavy rock). What is impressive in here is the construction; the cabinet is made of real plywood and not crumbly MDF. I know, I checked! Also the closed back means there is more bass.

Second possibility is to use the wooden framework, but replace the stock Chinese speakers with whatever tickles your fancy; thus ending with a budget -- and yet custom -- cab of your choice. The speakers are by the way front loaded and easy to change.

Any way you will end with a cab that is perfect with 5W - 30W (or bigger) modern tube heads. I have used mine (with stock speakers) with a small Blackstar, 15W Tiny Terror and a 30W Marshall JTM to great success.

Great for the price
Andy-ioi 09.02.2022
For this price you can't beat it! A little too much high frequency than what I like but I was able to dial it out with just the amp controls. No need for an EQ pedal to get the sound I want.

M
Harley Benton G212 Cab.
Murfman 13.12.2019
I received the item on time to the U.S. The single box bowing was damaged with holes. The cab sustained 2 dents and 1 small rip in the finish. Thomann was quick to respond and stood behind their shipping, it's all good. The speakers sound great, as good as,if not better than the vintage cab. I highly sugest this cab. It's worth more that the selling price. I compared this, to the vintage cab and thought the speakers sounded fuller suing the sound check provided with the item disription. And because this is a 200 watt cab compaired to the Vintage120watts, and cheaper too. Like I am concidering a guitar now, so good luck.

Great inexpensive Cab
johnboy01349 03.04.2019
I think this cabinet is priced out great and think it sound really good. The only reason I don't rate it higher is that I saw a video on Youtube where they said this sounds as good as the V30 speakers and I don't think it's quite the same.

Excellent Cabinet!
KK Bosch 28.02.2023
Once again I'm incredibly impressed with the quality, price and service! This cab easily stands up to cabs twice the price.

Thomann continues to be among the best out there, and the Harley Benton brand deserves to be recognized for the great products and affordable prices it produces.

O
Does the job
Octavator 23.09.2017
This cab is huge and heavy for a 2x12. Saying that, it probably protects it and definitely adds to the shape in the sound. I do recommend paying the extra and getting the vintage 30 one though. For cheap, generic speakers this cab sounds great and does the job for what you pay for it.

Good quality, great price
Stonerock 21.02.2018
I have been looking for a 2x12 cab for just about a year. I just couldn't bring myself to spend the outrageous amount of money on the US made stuff. I live in Ohio. I saw Glenn Fricker demo the 1x12 vintage and knew automatically that I had found a cab. I use a Peavey XXX, it's an incredibly mid range heavy amp, so I decided to go with the regular 2x12 instead of the vintage 30 loaded cab. The all plywood construction, portability, and awesome price tag make this cab a steal. I'm still waiting on mine. The shipping department said it would be 9 days from the time it ships to my door. It's been 7 days and it still hasn't been exported from Germany according to tracking. I plan on gigging the hell out of this cab for the next few years

Good for the price
Anonymous 22.11.2016
Not a bad buy for the price, however:

- the tolex/covering will not last very well on the road, i.e. it scuffs very easily.
+The construction however is okay,
+ it is plywood, not MDF.
I use it at home so will wear ok for me
