Mobile modelling sound power

With its integrated 100W Class-D power amp, dual-speaker design, and flexible tone-shaping options, the Harley Benton G112A-FR active cabinet is a compact, self-contained solution for guitarists who create their sound with modelling amps and multi-effects processors. The idea here is simple: Plug in the guitar, dial in a sound on the modeller, and play it back on the cab – no separate top or traditional guitar amplifier required. Inside the semi-closed cabinet, a 12" speaker works alongside with a 1" high-frequency driver. This two-way setup provides a solid, punchy low end while adding clarity and detail in the upper frequencies, which is exactly what's needed for reproducing digital cab simulations, impulse responses, and effects – anything where definition and resolution really matter.

Hear and be heard

Modern modelling amps and multi-effects units offer an extraordinary range of sounds, but to really appreciate them, they need to be properly amplified, too. This is exactly where the G112A-FR comes in. It's designed to reproduce those sounds with clarity, volume, and definition – without unnecessarily compressing them and, equally, without adding any unwanted colouration. With its 100W output, the result is a setup with enough headroom and power to handle full band rehearsals and many typical live situations reliably. Thanks to its angled cabinet design, the G112A-FR can also be positioned as a floor monitor, a use case for which it also excels. Here, LEDs for signal and peak help musicians keep an eye on input levels and avoid unwanted clipping as they play.

Ready to use, easy to shape

Whether it's a Headrush pedalboard, a Line 6 Helix, any of the Boss multi-effects pedals, a Fractal Axe-FX, or a Kemper unit, the compact and robust G112A-FR offers a straightforward way to run systems like these directly. The combination of built-in amplification, a purpose-built speaker system, and simple controls makes it a practical tool for getting sounds up and running without any additional gear. Controls for volume, resonance, and presence allow the sound to be adjusted directly on the cabinet. Rather than aiming for strict neutrality, these options make it possible for guitarists to shape the low end and bring out the highs exactly as their sound and the room requires, nudging the overall feel closer to that of a traditional guitar cabinet.

About Harley Benton

Since 1998, the Harley Benton brand has been catering for the needs of numerous guitarists and bassists. In addition to an extensive range of stringed instruments, Thomann's house brand also offers a wide choice of amplifiers, speakers, effect pedals, and other accessories. In total, the range includes over 1,500 products. Built by established names in the industry, all Harley Benton products combine quality and reliability at attractive and affordable prices. The continuous expansion of the range ensures that Harley Benton always provides new, exciting, and innovative products that keep players perfectly in tune with the musical world, day after day.

Not just for guitarists

With its punchy, powerful sound and broad frequency response, the Harley Benton G112A-FR is well suited to the needs of guitarists or bassists who use modelling amps or multi-effects processors. At the same time, it isn't limited to stringed instruments – keyboards and synths also benefit from its direct, well-defined audio reproduction, particularly in live or monitoring situations. The XLR input and output prove especially useful here: A monitor mix can be fed straight through to be played out of the cabinet itself, or the instrument input can be passed on to a mixing desk via the XLR output.

Great no BS amp

If you own a modeller, this is the amp to have. Try this before spending more money on expensive brand crap. It is supposed to be FRFR, so it does just that; no colouring, no anything, just the clean amplification of the modeller. The tone controls are highly efficient, be careful at gigs as they have a wide range, I keep them flat most of the time depending on the room. I had an issue with the shipping and the EU lead sent to the UK not working through and adapter. I found out it was the adapter so luckily I had an extra UK kettle lead laying around and no further issues so far. It is loud as hell, usually I keep it at 12:00 at gigs, controlling the volume mostly from the guitar, I'm old school; if you set the modeller correctly and have nice IRs (York Audio for example) the tone and feel are pretty much the same as a real amp, the Harley Benton just helps with the thumping. I can get Scott Henderson tone and gain in one setting from sparkly clean to screaming lead without changing presets just tweaking vol and tone pots. I could not believe before that you could do this with modellers. The modellers is the Ampero II Stage, also bought from this lot. My expensive heavy amps/cabs ( 30-45 kgs) now collect dust. This thing weights 15kgs. Now I'm exploring stereo, so either adding another one or get the 212, which is a lot heavier, we'll see.

This thing gets LOUD. After that, you can turn it down and not disturb the neighbors (much ... ha ha). Not too heavy. Doesn't take up too much room. Paired with my Helix Floor it makes all the sounds I enjoy and probably more than I'll find before I'm too old to play anymore. The Presence knob is a major bonus. Took more than a little while for Thomann to ship. But, it was definitely worth the wait.

It may or may not be for you

I bought this to use with a Strymon Iridium (or modeller) centered setup, for home or live monitoring.

It is not really a FRFR but more of a powered open back cabinet. So it does color the sound a bit. It does not sound bad at all and it does give you the amp in a room feeling but it is not a faithful reproduction of what you hear through studio monitors! So I would not design my core tone using it and expect it to sound the same through the PA... I guess an alternative to this would be a regular powered PA speaker. Also, it does sound good at low/mid volume but have not tested it in a rehearsal/live situation.

I tried to use the resonance and presence controls to shape the sound to get closer to what I head in headphones or studio monitors with mixed results. A regular EQ with a variable mid Q would be much more effective but these work as well in some situations. I have not tried the XLR in/out yet but it looks like the volume of the XLR out is affected by the volume knob which is a bit unexpected :(

All in all it is not bad but it it is not great either.
