DA
Highly recommended; an excellent read...
Douglas A. 01.10.2012
This 125 Anniversary Edition is not a book about guitars and violins (although there's tons of them in there...); it's more a celebration of the people that made the Hofner name so well established over such a period. Photos and illustrations abound from throughout the history of the makers of these fine instruments. If your interests are solely the 'Beatle Bass', you will discover a whole universe of talent and expertise which should give even more pride in it's ownership. There is far more to Höfner than that, though, and this book highlights the whole range, from day 1 to the present.
Well bound, strong print on quality paper, laid out in a modern and original style, it's a joy to turn the pages and dip into, time and time again. I've spent a few weeks with my copy, and am far from having gleaned all it's secrets.
Christmas will be upon us soon. Here's a great gift for present or budding musicians, of all ages; doubly so for the 'baby boomers', who can directly relate to the life and times shown here. For the younger ones, it would be no bad thing to take the book to 'Pappy' for explanations of how things were 'back then'.
Do I recommend this tome..? Yes, indeed I do..!

P
Great Book
ProgBass 30.09.2012
This book is made very exclusivley and luxurious. It has a hardcover and a great print, thicker pages, very great. You get everything you can imagine: at first you get the historical background of Hofner, an insight into the factory, great stories about the instruments and so on. Many great photos make this book very attractive. Everyone who knows Hofner and or is interested in its history should buy this book and read it.
