JT
Elegant Ebony Tenor with Solid Tuning and Playability
Jordy The Gnome 11.03.2026
This ukulele grabbed me right away with its elegant vibe—the exotic ebony top, back, and sides show off that gorgeous wood grain you just want to run your fingers over. Build quality is spot-on, from the comfy satin-finished mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard to the clever slotted headstock. Tuners sit neatly behind the headstock, staying hidden and stopping any rattle when I set it down. The bevelled edge? Game-changer for ergonomics—holds like a dream even after an hour of playing. The glossy lacquer on the body gives it that polished, premium shine.
On my unit, there’s a small 3x3 cm patch near the back edge with thinner lacquer, but you won’t spot it unless you’re looking closely, and it doesn’t bother me at all.
Tonally, it’s clean and punchy with sharp attack and dead-on intonation. I ditched the stock strings for D’Addario fluorocarbons in low-G; they settled quick after a few days, and tuning locks in tight. Paired with those quality Graph Tech tuners, the stability is rock-solid—love that combo.
The real magic hits with fingerpicking and strumming: volume steps up with real clarity, warmth fills out the lows beautifully, and it just sings. Makes me grin every time I pick it up.
With this setup, projection and warmth step up nicely—ideal for fingerstyle and strumming. If you’re eyeing a tenor that plays as good as it looks, this one’s worth trying.
