Not really an extension!
Its slightly unlikely you want to use this as an extension, as it is really short so it doesn't get you much extension! Also it doesn't quite match the other extension rods, it is a little thicker and quite a bit heavier. However it is really useful if you want to make a little custom mic stand, I am using this, the clamp from a boom arm and the 500mm extension rod.
