Mackie CR5BT - after 15 days of heavy usage
I bought Mackie CR5BT as second pair of speakers to be on hand for PC, mob, tablet, maaaaybe TV. For playing my instrument, recording and mixing I use Yamaha HS8, practically all my life. So it is a given that HS8 are my main reference for comparing speaker to speaker. That said, these Mackie are:
* Bluetooth is top notch. It pairs quick, easy and there is no delay regardless what are you pairing speakers with
* Packaging, build quality, bells & whistles are A1. No complaints.
* After 7 days of different try-outs, I became arrogant and connected them to TV via bluetooth and ankered them on 110 cm high stands. Results are better than expected. I turned on Mackie Bookshelf / Play option and never looked back.
* Sound is clear, rich on gain. I think bass is software managed, but that's not the issue. Highs and mids are ok. Both music and talk sound fine.
* Only issue I have with these speakers are: I miss few dB more on volume. That does not mean they don't go loud!!!
But... You can't have it all. If those few dB would produce some noise, hiss - this option is way better.
So, all things considered, I highly recommend. They overdeliver. Last note: I tried Mackie CR4.5BT. Not the same story!
