Good for a complete beginner like me
At first, I didn't like the amp, because there was always a hum. I hunted around on the internet for a solution. I found that I shouldn't be plugging the amp into an extension cord and that I should upgrade the guitar cable I used. When I did these things the hum dropped to an acceptable level. I also dropped the volume down to about 2 on both the clean and overdrive channels. This also helped control the hum. The amp sounded good in overdrive with the gain cranked up to 8, the contour at 2 1/2 and the volume at 2. The amp is plenty loud at these settings for use in an upstairs office space. Now I'm happy with the amp. Great for a beginner like me.

Does the job
I think it’s a little overrated but as a 10w amp it’s really good particularly for the beginners.

Good looking, cheap, but...
Wouldn't buy again. Didn't like the sound. If you want a Marshall amp, don't be cheap like me :)

Good overdrive
Out of every beginner amp, this Marshall MG10G is the best one for overdrive channel. The clean sounds are okay but do the job very well. Has every basic feature you need including input and output for headphones and to play along with backing track.
