Auf der Suche nach einer passenden Shruti Box um Mantras zu begleiten und für mein Klangschalenarrangement habe ich es im Sommer 2021 schonmal mit einer 220 € Shruti Box von Amazon versucht, mit dem Gedanke "Kommen ja eh alle aus Indien und sind billig verarbeitet, was soll schon schiefgehen?". Und selbst mit dieser niedrigen Erwartungshaltung war das Endergebnis ernüchternd. Balg nicht richtig dicht, kaum Sustain, eher leise, schlecht verleimt und dann auch noch den Kunststoff nicht richtig ausgeschnitten. Mit Dank zurück in die Post.

Dies Monoj Kumar Sardar Shruti von Thomann ist zwar mit satten 345 € nicht ganz billig, ist dafür aber ein wirklich ordentliches Instrument: Schöne Verarbeitung des Holzes, keine hässlichen Leim spuren, ein dichter Balg und schöne Regler um die Töne einzustellen. Dazu eine schöne Tasche.

Der Sound ist genau das was ich mir erhofft hatte: Satte, resonante Töne in 440 HZ. Das Verhältnis der Betätigung des Blasebalgs zu Tonlänge ist sehr gut: Einmal Luft in die Shruti Box - und der Ton bleibt lange genug, so dass ich parallel die Klangschalen spielen kann.

Das Instrument an sich ist perfekt um mit Gruppen zu tönen, da es trotz seiner handlichen Grösse laut genug ist, um noch gehört zu werden, wenn 15 Erwachsene singen.

Die "Male" Skala ist auch für mich als Sängerin perfekt, da sie eine schöne erdende Qualität hat und meine Stimme sich dadurch erlauben kann, auch etwas mehr in die Höhenlagen zu gleiten, ohne dass es gleich zu "abhgehoben" klingt.

Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden: Manchmal lohnt es sich einfach 35 % mehr zu zahlen, aber dann auch wirklich das Instrument zu haben mit dem man wirklich arbeiten kann. Ich kann die Shruti nur weiterempfehlen.
