I use a lot of Neumann mics and nearly all of them gave me excellent results. This pair of KM183 I use mostly for orchestral and choir recording work. They are diffuse field, so they do a pretty good job as a main stereo mics in front of an orchestra.

At first I was a little confused as the chart shows that is a really bright mic (+7db at 10Khz) so I expected to sound bright. But surprisingly they sound very balanced with a beautiful top end and a big and clear low end.

The km183´s are omni pattern but as they go up in frequency response they go more and more directional. At 16Khz they are almost hypercardioids. This makes them perfect for the music I record.

Overall wonderful mics.

Ich glaube, man muss zu diesen Mikrofonen wirklich nicht viel sagen! Sie klingen ganz fantastisch. Am besten gefällt mir die Diffusfeld-Entzerrung, was auch einen weiten Abstand zu der Schallquelle ermöglicht. Ich nutze diese Mikros als Hauptmikrofon im AB-Verfahren bei Klassikaufnahmen. Der Klang ist edel, warm und klar, sodass auch im Nachhinein keine Klangveränderung mehr nötig ist. Das Zubehör ist sehr wertig und auch die Hülle ist schön anzusehen und sehr stabil. Auch für Gitarren oder Klavieraufnahmen eignen sich diese Mikrofone ganz hervorragend, aber nicht umsonst haben sie sich einen derartigen Namen gemacht, sodass diese Bewertung eigentlich nicht mehr von Nöten ist. Dennoch möchte ich hier noch einmal sagen, dass sich diese Mikrofone für den oben beschriebenen Anwendungszwecken hervorragend eignen.

Verwende die KM183 als Hauptmikrofon in AB für a-capella Aufnahmen und bin sehr zufrieden.
Die relativ starke Diffusfeldentzerrung lässt darauf schliessen, dass sie für den Einsatz als Hauptmikrofon konzipiert sind, für den Einsatz im Nahfeld lässt sich die Höhenanhebung durch behutsamen EQ-Einsatz ausgleichen.

Für mich sind die KM183 die leistbarsten Kugeln der "Profiliga" (Schoeps, DPA, Sennheiser, Neumann).

Als Mikrofonspinnen verwende ich die Oktava SM20, wobei ich die Gummihülle der Halterung durch Filz ersetzt habe damit die KM183 passen.
