10. Care & Maintenance

Body sweat and cerumen (earwax) are aggressive and can therefore attack or destroy the hearing systems. When using custom-made devices, it's crucial to regularly check the ear canal for cerumen residues, preferably after each use, and remove them if necessary using the cerumen removal tool provided with the devices.

Cerumen residues in the ear canal of the hearing system can significantly affect its sound. After each use, the earmold should be cleaned and disinfected with a mild alcohol wipe before packing. However, avoid using aggressive liquids, as they could damage the surface of the hearing system. For drying the hearing system, it's best to use a small bag of drying gel included in the packaging. There are also special drying containers available in stores, which come with a drying tablet that lasts for several uses or a longer period.

For universal hearing systems, it's important to ensure that the silicon tips or foam pads used are only used by one user each. Under no circumstances should these parts be passed on from one user to another without cleaning.

Universal foam pads should only be used a maximum of 2-3 times, as their rough surface absorbs dirt and sweat. Silicon tips (tree-shaped) can generally be used for a longer period.
