Not great
The sounds are very good, but the velocity sensor lets us down badly. You have to be super accurate while using it or you get very soft or no sound. It’ll miss beats often.
To get a consistent sound out of the box takes such concentration and accurate, it stops being fun very quickly…

Faulty out of the box.
I ordered this pedal because I wanted to try a digital, sample-based kick pedal for a change. Unfortunately, it only worked for a few minutes when I first received it, which was very disappointing.
I feel Ortega would really benefit from using better-quality internal components in these pedals. It is obviously using a trigger pad inside, but the pad itself is too small, which makes it easy to miss with your foot, unlike most passive analogue foot stomp pedals.
If you do want a sample-trigger pedal, I would suggest the Roland instead. It has far superior build quality, along with a much better, larger and more responsive trigger pad.
The overall build quality of the Horse Kick is decent, but I think it is really let down by cheap hardware. I'll be buying a Wild Dog or a Wazinator instead.
