Why no strain relief?
I have purchased several cables with Rean plugs. I like their compactness, style and quality. They have little strain relief grommets in black or red. So when I ordered some plugs to redo some foot pedals recently I was expecting the same. Unfortunately, the strain relief must be a separate product because these plugs don't have it. They just have a rather large hole that the cable goes into. I was concerned that the thin cable I was intending to use would end up breaking quickly and would look like the plug was incomplete. However, like another reviewer, I have now purchased a heat gun and have found that shrink wrapping the entire inside of the plug before screwing the cover in place offers pretty good strain relief, although it only marginally improves the appearance and was an un-needed additional expense. Overall, I would still recommend these plugs as the build quality and materials are very good and they are neater than the big Neutrik plugs.

Sturdy basic mono plug
Neutrik NYS224 is a good quality, all-round mono phone plug. This excels at rack systems etc. where the small size of a connector is more important than stress relief.
For guitar cables I'd recommend the sturdier NPX-series with touring-quality stress relief.

LP
A very good quality plug, easy to solder and assemble. Still, for a guitar lead or a cable that has to be plugged in and unplugged often, I would choose a Neutrik NP2 over this connector type.
