Red Panda Raster V2 - Delay

This is my second Red Panda device and I could not be happier with them. The Raster is loads of fun, capable of really nice, regular, pristine delays, a little bit of modulation wobbgle right through to super crazy pitch bent delays, even a hint of ring mod in there.

I'm a huge fan of delays that fall in pitch on every repeat - I used to do this with a rack delay and a harmoniser but now it is here in one small, hifi, stereo box. It also does pretty much everything the 'Baklengs' does (if you know what they are) but at much higher quality and memories etc,
MIDI support and web editor are great too though you don't need either to use this. I got this out of the box as soon as it arrived and played for over three hours without noticing the time passing.

This pedal has had me puzzled for some time after buying and I've gone through every emotion trying to get my head around the controls. I highly recommend recording a loop and then sitting with the pedal and tweaking away until you get a feel for it. On the surface, it has a quite basic delay that produces a pristine digital delay. Only when you engage the modulation controls and switch the 'Shift' side of the pedal on do you realise what a truly unique delay this is. ( It's a digital delay with a pitch and frequency shifter integrated into the feedback loop).

The web editor helps you see all the hidden controls if you cant get your head around the pedal on its own, and some features are only available via the web editor, so its worth using. A 3200ms delay and Reverse delay with repeats shifted once are some examples. This pedal produces some pretty unique delays that drift in odd rhythms but can always syncopate pretty effectively due to the delay time and modulation controls being synchronized to tap tempo or MIDI timing clock. You can ease things off with the blend knob and keep things under control.

I would not recommend this pedal if you are looking for a straightforward delay but if you are looking for something leftfield and highly configurable the Red Panda Raster 2 is highly recommended. As mentioned earlier, the best way to get your head around it is to record a loop and sit with the pedal and manipulate the loop to help you understand what the modulation controls can do to the delay and the 'shift' function. So glad I kept hold of this one and gave it the time it deserves. Such a rewarding and unique delay pedal!

Der Hammer! Macht extrem viel Spaß! Man kann auch gewöhnliche Delay Sounds erzeugen aber ich finde vor allem die ungewöhnlichen Sounds intreressant. Habe das Teil seit ein paar Tagen und kann es gar nicht erwarten jede freie Minute damit zu spielen. Sowas hatte ich ewig micht mehr mit einem Effektgerät. Bisher habe ich nicht einmal ins Manual gesehen, denn es ist relativ intuitiv zu bedienen. Würde ich sofort wieder kaufen! Ist vielleicht nicht unbedingt was für den Alltag aber absolut inspirierend und das Geld wert. Macht ausserdem einen sehr robusten und durchdachten Eindruck.
