Okay, but not what they used to be
I have a 13-pin cable from over fifteen years ago (still works), but sometime in the interim period, Roland changed their manufacturing/materials; sadly, not for the better. It works, and it?s useable, but the construction/material of the cable means it?s not very flexible (in comparison to the old cable), and has memory.
As I said, it works?it does what it?s supposed to?but your mileage may vary. (I wish there was an alternative short of soldering 13-pin DIN connectors yourself.)

Overpriced but necessary
It's an unusual cable which is necessary for the Boss/Roland midi systems so you're stuck paying way too much for what amounts to a pretty mediocre cable. The build quality is good, but not great - it's stiff and the end plugs are plastic which means you need to baby it or you're going to be buying yet another one soon.

The right lead for the right job!
I have been gigging for 15 years with the Roland VG88. Its a fine & reliable piece of equipment but the Lead needs periodic replacement. This is my 3rd lead in that time frame so I can't complain about routine maintenance, I do think the lead is over priced though. If the sssnake company would produce a similar product I'm sure it would come in at a lower price than the €46.00 euros I paid for this replacement. Cheers S.
