Shredding machine

Very high quality instrument. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Straight from the box the action was ok, but I managed to get it really low (1 mm first string, 1,4 mm sixths string, on a 12 fret). Intonation is perfect, didn't need any adjustment (E standard tuning, 10-46 Elixir strings).
Neck pickup is with Sustaniac, that was the main reason to buy this guitar. I had few guitars with Sustaniac before, and had some issues in the past (some notes were not picked up by the magnet, for example), in this one it is fine. Bridge pickup is really hot, high output, but the sound is a bit dull. In general, I don't like the clean sound of this guitar at all, but I guess it is not really designed for clean sound. Distortion is perfect. Sound is clear, could really cut through the mix, well articulated, well defined.
The neck is smooth and fast, the frets are polished really well, the fretboard quality is amazing. It took some time to adjust right hand position to the shape of the body, but after a few days it feels natural (I own other guitars, mostly strat shape, so used to place my right hand a bit different)
In general, for rock and metal it is perfect, for clean and light crunch not so much (to my taste). So, if you looking for versatile instrument - this is not the case. If you're looking for rock/metal beast - this one is for you.

A beast
Patrick Reyntens 07.11.2021
Holy crap! This guitar is absolutely awesome if you're a metalhead. It looks amazing and the thing has the power of an army unit. It plays itself basically. Perfect for chuggy rhythm bits and leads. Even though I ordered an additional set-up by thomann - out of the box it was not playable. It didn't feel as if a set-up happened at all which is a shame because you pay 75 euros for the service. Action was way too high, the guitar detuned every second, pickup height was insane etc...Lucky enough my local guitar tech fixed everything (for the same price) and when I plugged this beast into my amp, it blew me away. So 5 stars for the guitar and 0 stars for the setup.

A
Great Sounding and Playing guitar, with some minor visual QC issues.
AzharKhidzer 01.11.2024
First of all, I love the guitar but i will nitpick cosmetic QC issues because i don't feel that these should be present on a guitar at this price range.
Shipped from: Germany to Singapore

Upon unboxing, a few things became clear to me.

Schecter has boxed the guitar well with sufficient support and styrofoam padding. Thomann has provided sufficient paper insulation to ensure that the box is well padded against impacts. The box came unblemished. Props to Thomann for shipping the guitar over quickly as well!

The guitar itself had some tooling marks along the binding. One is on the extended explorer horn while the other is along the curve of the lower horn. Lacquer was applied correctly and smoothly over these marks. This tells me that Thomann did not mishandle or damage the guitar. Schecter should be more meticulous with an instrument at this price. Furthermore, the foam padding in the trem cavity came off during shipping. Of course, it a very easy fix but again, i will place this responsibility on Schecter. Attach the foam padding properly....

Otherwise, the rest of the guitar is excellent, with levelled frets and no sharp edges. The neck is not warped and all the electronics work well with no scratchy pots or intermittent cut outs. I'm not certain if Schecter or Thomann set up the guitar but it was overall well set up, with a small amount of neck relief and comfortable action out of the box. Despite shipping between two continents with vastly different climates (Europe to Southeast Asia), the guitar was only a few cents flat and the trem was still perfectly level.

If you are like me and want a 24 stainless steel fret explorer with a sustainiac and a floyd, this is probably your best bet.
