A bit pricey but great sounding

I spent a long time looking for a set of pickups that could offer a wide range of sounds for all the different styles I play and in the end I went for these and I think I made the right decision.

They sound great even when you're strumming chords with high distortion and the clarity of clear sounds is something else. I play a lot of styles from indie, where the neck pick up does an amazing job, especially with split coils and the bridge pick up is really good for heavier stuff. At least from what I've discovered so far.

It's a bit unusual combination of pick ups in my opinion but if you're also someone who doesn't stick to one style of music and likes to experiment with many different sounds then I think they won't disappoint you.

They are a bit expensive but I definitely don't regret buying them.

I swapped my EMG81 & 89 (85/60 on split) for these, and I couldn?t have been happier with the swap. A lot more organic and fuller sound, without compromising attack or sustain. My guitar is a Jackson Dinky with a Floyd Rose bridge. I usually tune to Drop A or B standard, and they give great string definition on low tunings, whereas the EMG?s were a bit flat and "boring". The Pegasus pickup makes distorted chords a lot more fun, because you can hear the separation of the strings a lot better, and the sentient pickup is very rich on harmonics, that really makes a huge difference when doing lead work compared to the EMG89.

Side note: I put the EMG?s in my Drop D-tuned guitar, with a tune-o-matic style bridge. They sounded a whole lot better here. So I?m considering switching my Seymour Duncan Blackout 7?s for Pegasus/Sentient 7?s as well on my 7-string, as apparently to my ears, do a better job on low tunings.

Very good yes!

I replaced my stock pickups in the Shecter C6 pro. I noticed that these (Pegasus/Sentient) are clearer. Pinch harmonics pop very good, a lot better than the stock pickups. I love how these pickups sound from everything from cleans to soaring chug chug. A cool thing is that if you play your high gain tone with the neck pickup or both neck/bridge then you get a warmer fizzy type of thing, very cool indeed.

I will say that if you're looking for extreme super ultra soaring metal, you might want to look for something hotter. But if you want something flexible that can do everything from cleans to death metal, these ones are very good. I am very happy with these.

Seymour Duncan Pegasus Sentient 6 Set Black review
SimoSacco 19.04.2019
Best modern sounding pickups ever.
Got them both in the 6 and 7 strings verions and I was never disappointed.
The pegasus is fantastic.
I'd buy this set for modern metal over any boutique pickup set or even other duncans like the nazgul or the alpha omega set.

I like them better than 81/85 for classic heavy metal
Ivan Makkin 08.11.2020
Not that 81/85 is a bad choice, but for classic HM, for an evenly dense wall of sound with a classic tube overdrive, the perfect solution.

Great sound

I've replaced my stock Ibanez pickups with Pegasus/Sentient and I must say there is a huge difference in sound! After I received my guitar with new pickups installed and tested it at home I couldn't stop playing. There is much less noise and more musicality. Don't have experience to compare with other pickups but I am definitely satisfied with my purchase.

Great set of passive pickups for modern metal sound
Giorgosch 06.01.2020
I replaced my emgs 81 85 active set with this one. i have to say the quality of the sound improoved a lot. Great cleans with and without coil split. As for high gain sound, through my two notes le lead preamp this is a killer set! The bridge pickup is great for riffs and solos. I prefer the neck pickup for solos but i believe you can get something usefull out of it. Having the selector in middle position and my guitar going to a fuzz effect had an amazing result.

Simply fantastic

Fantastic tone. Clean bridge is crispy and works well for about any genre. Overdriven neck is beautiful for most rock/metal use.

Perfect sound
StephanPK 04.07.2022
I iked the sound of these pickup in one guitar that I had, so decided to install it in other one (baritone). Unfortunately, the first set came with defect, there was a strong ground noise, even after a proper grounding. Sent it back to Thomann through warranty and they kindly exchanged it to a new set. The new one is flawless, no noise whatsoever, perfect Hi Fi sound, the pickups handle low tuning (B standard) very well.
