Well, it's pointless for me to repeat what has already been said by hundreds of positive reviews, this cable is very good indeed, buy with confidence.
I would like to point out that this cable has two other versions, you many want to consider:
One with an angled jack (I actually should have bought this one...)
One guaranteed by the manufacturer as completely silent.

great for bass!
This is truly a high quality cable! The jack connections are very sturdy and the extra shielding ensures you won't have any interferences whatsoever! The thicker cross.section translates in a better transmission of the lower frequencies, that will simply disappear with thinner cables. It won't boost your lows, of course, but it ensures a more linear sound. So, it's great for bass, and other instruments, of course.

I have been using one of the other Spirit XXL cables ( the one with the Neutrik NP2RX-AU silent angled jack) as my main cable for a while now, so when I needed a cable with straight jacks, the choice was easy. These cables are just amazing, especially at these prices.
I personally don't really hear any tonal differences between cables, I look for other things. Two things in particular:
- no crackles, ever.
- durability. I've just had too many cables die on me.
The Spirit XXL's deliver 10/10 in these two categories. Recommended.

best vfm cable
Bought it on 29.11.2013, I rehearsal and perform live with that cable since then and after 7 years its still working without having to resolder or anything.
Big plus the Hicon jacks, they secure the cable in place, no twisting no nothing. sturdy as a mountain. excellent sonic characteristics. and a great price

Sommer - german engineering
The Spirit XXL is named "XXL" because of its huge cross section. That's meaningful to keep heights and level.
Sommer is a high-quality company, specialised on audio-cables.
I'm using two of these, pre- and post the effect section. No tone-loss is remarkable, the two cables do its job for over 5 years (!) now.
The jacks are superb and can be unscrewed.
The style of the grey see-through jacket is fashionable in my opinion, but as the rubber sticks to itself, the cable twists easily.

Best bang for the buck
I switched to Sommer cables more than a year ago after using cheaper cables for far too long.
They are very durable, I don't feel worried about them shorting out during a gig, or ever, really. They don't tangle or coil easily.
I have this cable as well as some other ones from Sommer with gold, in the mean time I haven't noticed any difference in sound or utility. I use both this one and a gold one in my effects loop as a kind of color-coding to make sure the cables are going to the right place, but some colored tape might be cheaper for you.
I'm satisfied with the cable for sure.

Nice
Probably the best guitar cable I´ve ever bought.
Good connectors
Non-stick "surface", i.e. it doesn´t get tangled up as easy as some other cables.
The non-stick "surface" also means it´s easy to clean when necessary.
No obvious loss of signal.
There´s actually nothing bad to say about this cable except maybe the pricing, on the other hand it will probably last a lot longer than most cheaper cables.
Highly recommended, the only thing that´s better is a good wireless.

Simple Cable, reliable
I use this cable for my electric guitar as a connection between guitar and multi-fx-board. I use it probably 1x per week. I really like the handling and reliability of the cable. Didn't have any problems with the plugs and cable itself. The cable feels very solid but still flexible enough. Would buy it again. Before I had cables that produced problems after a couple of months. Not so with this one. I trust this cable and don't have to worry about connection problems.

Simply the best for bass!
I have tried many instrument cables.
From Cordial to Vovox, from Fender Custom Shop to ACME, but the Spirit XXL Cable is umcomparable to all of these.
It is (for me) the best sounding cable for a bass player.
No, I don't believe in voodoo. But I do know, that the bigger diameter of the inner wire (.75mm) is less resistive and so it sounds different from most cables which have a maximum of .22mm.
Also it's really stage ready. I use these cables for years and none of those ever had problems with dirt, beer or even stepping on it, pulling really hard or anything else.
