I don't know why but I have broken 2 of these already and I wouldn't be a metal drummer or anything. I play dance and indie rock so It's not being played improperly. It seems to snap just at the bend of the hook on the pedal. Maybe if you play any way heavy or enthusiastically go for the heavy duty spring that they do. I guess thats why they do one!

I would always carry a spare just in case!
