Well built, but kind of dull sound.
Dirty Five Given 22.10.2020
You can't beat this price, so obviously this won't be a world class mic.
It's built surprisingly well - heavy, sturdy, with a nice feel to it.
As for the sound - I'm not getting much output level from it, and what I do get is kind of dull, with very little attack or clarity.
It is useable, and for me - it's fine, cause I need it mostly for demoing - so if you just need something cheap and simple - I think you'll be happy with it.

Big mic, big sound!
Aadrie B. 02.03.2024
I use this on toms, so anything mentioned below is in reference to that.

Pro's:
Amazing frequency response & overall tone! Most tom mic's start picking up sound around 50-ish hz but I love that this bad boy picks up sound starting from 20hz, those subs just add a really nice overall weight to your toms. Build quality is also great, literally built like a tank. Every rehearsal, recording or show these are getting hit A LOT on accident during fills or grooves but this mic does not care!

Cons:
For using it as a tom mic, this microphone is big! Don't use this on a clip-mount! On a 16" floor tom this is not a problem but on a 12" rack tom, you're gonna be hitting it quite a bit (but this mic could survive a fallout so you're all good on that part). Use this mic on stands or very flexible mounts when mic'ing rack toms!

Honestly, just buy it, it's cheap as heck.

Surprisingly good
Adrian816 24.05.2013
Just needed a cheap mic for bass drum and this does the job fine. When I tested it out it has a mid bass heavy sound which would work well for other instruments I'm sure. Surprisingly resistant to feedback but not a contender for vocals.

Sounds fine
Avtechy 30.08.2017
Solidly constructed, small, reasonable sound. Very good for the price.
I've been using this all summer at festivals, often for didge or djembe and its going strong.

Great Value for Money Budget Live Bass Drum Mic
C-Dweller 23.08.2021
I've used this on a number of pro gigs and, as a basic dynamic bass drum mic, it's done a very reasonable job. I place it well inside my 22" x 18" Yamaha 9000 Recording Custom through a front head port. It's a classic bass drum so it has an incredible sound to start with.

Very happy with this as a cheap but reliable gigging mic.

Nice mic for the money
Rúben 30.10.2018
This is a great mic to use in instruments like kick drums, cajons, and bass amps. It isn?t the best mic in the planet, but for what it costs it has a nice warm and full sound. I think it would work well in brass instruments such as the trombone and tuba based on what i hear from it's frequency response. All in all i'm very pleased with it and highly recomend it for someone in a budget

J
A very solid sounding mic
James8953 13.02.2014
Yet another thomann product that you really cannot argue with! This mic is solidly made and has stood up to years of (mis)treatment and is still going.

The weight is good but keep an eye on the hinge screw as these do tend to get a little loose over time - common with all mics!

The sound is good, it's pretty balanced but there is perhaps a slight loss of top end, mids are nice and clear though and the bass is solid - I've been using this for mic'ing bass drums and snares and it's performed really well. I even tried with an acoustic guitar and was pretty pleased with the results but would recommend mixing with some condensers to get a more balanced sound.

Overall a total bargain!

T-bone BD 200
Anonymous 17.02.2015
I bought the t-bone BD200 to be used for a live bass drum mic for my pub/bar blues band. The mic is well built and of metal construction, so well suited to a tough life and comes with a foam lined case for storage and transportation. As for sound, the mic has a very tight mid range point when used in a bass drum, giving a nice 'thud' without too much mud. It has a reasonably small cap for a kick drum mic, but seems to work well. But, for me, this mic really comes into it's own when used in a Cajon. Both bass and snare elements of the Cajon sound come through very clearly and the mic itself is small enough not to be hindered by the sound hole in the back of the Cajon. I would recommend this as a reasonable live kick drum mic, but a very good Cajon mic. Worth every penny.

Solid drum mike
Anonymous 19.04.2015
I bought this to mike up my cajon and it does a good job. I would recommend buying a good quality holder for it though - it is pretty heavy and a bit bigger than I expected - but it is satisfyingly solid in a very reassuring way. Very good value for this price.

Great Microphone, Great Price!
Anonymous 19.08.2014
When i got my t.bone BD 200 i hooked to straight up and started recording drums. and on the kick this sound's great! So good that on most of the tracks i made i barely ended up EQing the Bass Drum tracks. Then i tried it micing up a bass and and it was awesome! i had always felt the bass on my songs where lacking as they where DI'd but this microphone just beats right through the mix! its amazing! all in all 4.5 out of 10, an awesome microphone at an amazing price!
