Compared to older cheap vocal mikes, this one has absolutely no gain. Bought 2 of them, same result so no error...

Breaks VERY easily

accidentally dropped it once (not even from a big height) and the shield smashed and the sound quality has greatly decreased beyond repair, but for the price can't really expect quality.
