A very good microphone for a very low price
JoshuaC 28.08.2015
I purchased this microphone to record some vocals for a band and I have to say I have not been disappointed with the results. There is a good frequency range and the microphone captures the high and low end of voices really well and competes with many microphones I have that cost over ?100! I was that impressed with its performance that I have used it to record some live instruments as well. I found it to be really good at capturing the snare sound on a cajon drum. When experimenting with other microphones the t.bone gave the most natural sound of the 4 I tested. in terms of its durability I cannot fault it. It comes with a padded case which keeps the mic in good shape. It doesn't feel very robust as it is super light compared to other microphones so it almost doesn't feel like it is capable of doing the job it can!

It only has the cardioid polarity setting, which reduces the amount of uses I have for it, but at the price it is, I really don't care. It's cheap, you probably won't see it in huge recording studios, but it does a job - a good job at that. The amount of microphone you get for each of your pennies is unbelievable!

Pretty good sound on a budget
Dan P. 23.08.2013
Thomann's own brand mic is the cheapest in my collection by quite a long way but I find it quite usable - have tried to A/B it with more expensive ones, and, guess what, it's a bit noisier and a bit quieter than the mic I have that cost 20 times as much. But if your budget is stretched or you're starting out and experimenting or if you want a mic that you can afford to break/lose/have stolen, but don't want to trade too much quality off against the price, then it's a good purchase. Mic cables lock in securely and it fits snugly in the holder. My star rating reflects the fact that it's such great value, and the fact that in terms of quality and features, the only things I have with which to compare it are so much more expensive.

SC 300 - Cheap large diaphragm condenser
Daniel C. 84 17.06.2013
I bought this condenser as part of a project to record drums in a live setting. The SC 300 was around the cheapest new condenser that I could find, without the need to risk buying used.

The microphone comes with it's own fitting, which is of high quality, I've never had any problem with it moving during use. As for sound, the microphone produces an acceptable, if not exceptional quality of sound recording. It's pretty well balanced without heavy emphasis on any particular part of the spectrum, and sounds good on a range of instruments (and in this case particularly, on different parts of the drum kit). It's particularly good for bass drum. However, the microphone is a little noiser than more expensive examples, but nothing that would be noticeable in a live mix.

Overall, a very cheap and reasonably performing condenser. I think it would be great for beginners, and particularly good for live recording in a busy mix. However, the noise floor may be of concern on quieter pieces. With that in mind, I recommend this microphone for beginners and home studio setups alike.

Studio Mic Live
Richard217 24.07.2013
Thomann advertise this mic as a studio condenser for obvious reasons - I needed a large diaphragm condenser for guitar cab duties at a mini festival I was doing this summer. Wow it sounds great in that roll, smooth and even across the frequency range with good definition and the holder makes life so much easier. I was also using an old Audio Technica AT3525 which was originally priced at £300 and although the AT has a built in switchable pad and hi pass filter I was able to use the desk to tailor the SC300 to taste and the comparison was very favourable. All in all another very usable mic from t.bone.

A
Good. not brillioant
Anonymous 25.12.2014
For the price you cant really complain. For vocals I found it a bit harsh however for acoustic guitar it sounds quite nice aimed at the 12th fret. Its always good to have an extra microphone available and for someone just starting to build a collection it is handy to have.

Comes in a nice padded foam case however it does not have a shock mount which would be useful as it picks up vibration from my floor quite a lot. Using a pop filter will definitely improve your sound as it is so sensitive and any plosive sounds will really be apparent. worse so on this mic than my AKG c414.

Versatile microphone
Steven5813 26.01.2015
This is an amazing microphone for the price.
I have had good results in the studio, recording vocals and acoustic instruments.
It particularly shines as an overhead drum mic, where it picks up cymbals very accurately.

PS
Not bad for price.
Pennylane Studio 20.11.2022
Got this little mic to replace a Rode which has failed and thought it was worth a punt for the price. Not the best condenser I've used over the years but for the cost I really can't complain. Only one pickup pattern, but nowadays it's just me in my little home studio so no problem. Plastic body which was a suprise, but it's not used on the road, so again not too much of an issue. Quite an open sound which has worked well for my vocals and should be good for miking up acoustic guitar? Comes with solid mic clip so may be wise to get hold of a shock mount if you use it for recording.
All in all for me, worth a go,so happy with my purchase.
Thanks Thomaan for speedy service once again. 😊😊

Value for money. (voice+instrument)
Anonymous 27.01.2017
I used the t.bone SC300 for recordings of voice and instruments (piano and guitar) and i found myself pleased by its use. The only negative is the construction of it wich is mostly plastic and that makes it vulnerable at any kind of accident. Summing up i believe it is a value for money buy as it works very good with the Behringer Xenyx 302USB.
P.S. not good with high frequencies.
