Blast for a price

Ok, so after playing a lot of Alto saxophones I decided I would go for a tenor. This was my choice over student Yamahas and Jupiters. I don't know much about tenor saxophones but the whole feel and impression after unboxing and playing first scale on it is very good. I didn't expect Yanigasawa quality and sound, but for this price nobody could complain about how it performs. There are some inconsistencies with sound on octaves but it could be due to my inexperience on tenors. I believe they could be handled by more experienced player. Saying that, novice wouldn't notice it that easily for which this instrument is, I believe, intended to.
Mouthpiece provided is not so good, but it plays; same goes for reeds provided with.
Neck strap is a nightmare, I suggest to change it at the first chance. But those are things that could be changed very easily and with a proper mouthpiece/ligature it plays wonderful. (I tried with Otto Link tone edge 6* and Vandoren V16 T7), much more better than I expected.
I cannot say how would it mechanically be after, let's say, a year of playing, so I leave this open.
If it counts, I recommend it if you're starting your journey in tenor sax world. It will very likely serve you a long time.

T
My first saxophone
Telamon 13.02.2021
First impression of my first saxophone. Love it. The pictures on the web site doesn't give it justice. This is, obviously, my subjective opinion. It is a beautiful piece. It will be fun learning how to play on this.

As I'm a rookie (to say the least) I'm not qualified to judge its sound, more than I like it. The case was good and keep all the parts securely in place. The included strap? Don't use it. I bought, as recommended, Thomann 1045 Prof Saxophone Strap. I also bought Yamaha Tenor Sax Mouthpiece, so I have not played much with the included one.

Overall: I am very pleased with this purchase.

I got a cheap chinese sax a couple of years back & i found it was difficult to get a sound, until recently I bought this sax along with a Bari Esprit Tenor mouthpiece, & I am amazed on how easy it is to play. Definitely recommended for beginners.

I was told about the thomann own brand trumpets before and heard good reviews but when i decided to go for a saxophone a lot of musicians recommended this sax as a mid range quality instrument, it would be perfect for learning and would also have the quality that will last and be able to use at higher levels. So far I have been very impressed the shipping was fast, packed nicely into the premium thomann hard case and just a beautiful instrument in both sound and build quality I would recommend this saxophone.

Not just a beginner sax
Anonymous 22.03.2016
I bought this saxophone (my first) off the back of the reviews I saw on thomann and it gave me the impression that it was a good sax for the money.
That's exactly what it is! Bearing in mind that I am only starting so this is the review of a beginner and not a pro player but I am having a great time with it. It comes with all the necessary parts (reed, mouthpiece, strap, good case). My sax teacher actually recognised it straight away and said that a buddy of his has been playing this live for the last 6 months and is very happy with it.
If i was to criticize anything it would be that the strap is of poor quality and can be quite hard on the neck. That's the only flaw i can find. The tone of high and low notes sound great and the feel of the buttons and transition between notes is very smooth.
Very Happy Customer!

Very nice finish. Everything works perfectly. No pitch problem. Buttons works perfectly.
Mouthpiece is not very good but at least there is one in the package and it is very easy blowing. Strap is crap but again at least there is one in the package. Nice hardcase with locks.

Excellent sax, have gigged it 400 times still as new. the action could be a little faster but is still very good. I would recommend a metal mouthpiece for rock . It has a big sound but modern also.
