Thomann E-Bass Case ABS

I bought 3 of these to send some basses across Europe -from Italy to the UK. They were carefully sealed in the cardbox boxes they arrived in. All 3 have been badly damaged and distorted -though thankfully the instruments inside survived! The aluminium strips and black ABS panels make them look solid and resilient but they are NOT. The black plastic is not solidly filled with foam and cracks easily. I wasn't expecting quality on a par with Hiscox's Lite Flite cases so I can't complain. However, just after this one trip I would never even dream of travelling with them again and the catches, and lids are all so badly distorted to make closing them difficult and leaves me less than sure they would protect my instruments again. I would recommend taking the control knobs off and dropping the volume, tone pots etc. into the bass's body when travelling long distance with these. A badly placed hit to the lid could easily damage your instrument below and push its controls through your instrument's top! Next time I will pay more for Hiscox cases -just for piece of mind.
