Arguably best guitar flatwounds..?
wgen 21.11.2018
Bought this particular guitar strings gauge for electric guitar, aiming to rock music and not jazz or mellow styles. Been using Thomastik strings for some time now, always been satisfied.
This particular gauge (central strings are from a 10 gauge strings set, the others from a 11 gauge set) let you maintain nice flexibility and crystal clear highs with the plain strings, while the flatwound strings give you nice full sounds that never, never get dull, differently from other flatwounds.
Seems quite resistent to corrosion, too.
These Thomastiks are your best bet as guitar flatwounds if you are aiming to modern styles and not only to traditional ones.
Sometimes I only wonder if they had a little more tension...Apart from that, these are what I was searching for.

p
neutral all round string

I think these strings are great for students or for trying out basses without adding any color to the sound.
They don't have a particularly sexy growl like other strings have. But they also don't sound bad in any part of the register.
So they don't add anything great but they also don't add anything bad.
They're quite good both for jazz and classical music.
I have used them extensively during my consevatory years playing with jazz bands and also w the classical orchestra.
My preferred set was the medium but then with a heavy G string. But this depends on the bass.

These are the first set of flats I bought after many years of not having used them.
They are great and seem durable. They took some time to adjust and kept losing pitch for some time after I fit them in but they have settled nicely and sound good.
Overall good and for the price and service with Thomman I will buy again

Excellent but...

These strings have a great sound. I tried them for the first time and felt good. The only problem encountered is that, during assembly, the third string broke, which had not happened to me for years ... Probably it had a manufacturing defect?

the first time i ve every used flatwounds, i am actually a die hrd elixir player but thses strings have opended a whole new dimension. certainly they are not so bright and the sustain isn t that long but in touch they are superb, they give a nice darker sound and feel so smooth. now to see how long they last and how these strings mature

good strings

good strings be careful putting them on they can be awkward compared to standard round wound. Also be careful if you use locking tuners it may be worth getting at least one wrap around with lockers they can slip otherwise due to the flat winds being slippery.
