Sticks are perhaps the most personal part of a drummer's arsenal, as they are literally the extensions of your hands on the instruments. For me, the extra length of these sticks makes playing more comfortable thanks to the reach as well as where the fulcrum point of the stick lies.

Only problem I can think of is the variation in weight (and density) between pairs. While the sticks are paired to match, there can be quite drastic differences in the feel between different pairs due to the variations of the wood consistency. Other than that, if this stick suits your playing, nothing but recommended.

Favourite pair of sticks

Can't go wrong with Vic Firths. X5B allow you to get volume and phat-ness out of your drums in big venues without having to work hard.

Extreme sticks for extreme drummers
Hephaestus 22.12.2021
This one is really good for the extreme metal drummers who prefer to play with a bit longer drumsticks than the regular 5B ones.

Excellent

I started on a 7A and I never really found the right grip.
I switched to bigger chopsticks to work the rebound.
Past the period of adaptation to weight and length (and subject to keeping them in equilibrium point) my game has changed and has become significantly more flexible, the bearings are more regular and come more naturally at hand. The 5B Extreme is good value for the money

Great for rock and heavier styles

Usual Vic Firth quality, ie good, with nice smooth finish and a great feel in the hands. The slightly longer than normal length provides both greater leverage for getting harder hits, but the medium taper still allows for lots of articulation when playing more delicate, intricate stuff.

I like these a lot on my acoustic kit, and use the nylon tipped version on my e-kit.

My go-to sticks
reklawxela 12.01.2018
I?ve played drums for more than a decade now and have had my fair share of sticks; Brand-wise, and/or stick size - wise. Sticks are very personal and I can?t tell any drummer to get these. However, as a hard rock/metal drummer these really go a long way. They?re super durable and take a lot of force to break (One pair lasts me about a month and a half). The downside is if you want to play ?softer? genres such as jazz, funk or pop, you need smaller sticks such as 5A?s. As a session drummer I always have 5A?s in the bag.

Great quality sticks

Tried these instead of Vic Firth extreme 5A's and I'm not disappointed. Obviously the build quality you would expect from Vic Firth but in a chunkier stick. Feels very nice and suits my playing style. Thanks

I think these sticks are great. I bought loads of sticks for a test to find the perfect stick for me. I love Vic Firth X5B's. For me they are perfect, personally I prefer the nylon tipped version but these are great too
