a successful litter from Vox

Christoph.S, 24.08.2018
First of all, I confess that I'm an absolute fan of the Vox Sound, but can not afford an AC15 or AC30 at the moment. With interest I have already followed the introduction of the small Nutube amps, but only the Superbeetle has encouraged me to buy.
The look is classic Vox, the amp and the box are very small and light. Not a heavy amp monster.
For now, I use the Super Beetle at home, which is also a great strength of the amp: it is quite suitable for living room due to the digital power amplifier and can also be played with headphones.
Striking is the bright LED, which can dazzle quite, you should not stand in front of the amp while playing, otherwise classic Vox, with built-in digital reverb and tremolo that sound appealing.
Crunchy, slightly distorted sounds are definitely a strength of the amp - and it can be loud! I can hardly turn the master volume in my music room over 11h, otherwise it blows my ears away!
The sound is also a small fly in the ointment: the 10-inch speaker sounds, especially at low volumes somewhat pot-shaped, something can be countered by the "Flat / Deep" switch. But you can attach 4/8/16 Ohm speakers, a test with 12 inch speakers is still pending, but I can imagine that the amp is then absolutely suitable for the gond.
One more point to the speaker: if the master is set too low, it sounds slightly scratchy, so it certainly needs a certain basic volume. If that does not change, if it is recorded some time. Therefore a star deduction at the sound.

Conclusion: definitely an eye-catcher and a simple amp of fun. Goes well with my pedals (Overdrive, Wah) and reacts sensitively to the game with the Volumepoti.

Mini and super

Maedsche, 30.08.2018
Miniaturization is the logical consequence of digitization. What is the point of large enclosures if most of it is air? What is not needed for power generation can disappear. This has already allowed many effect devices to shrink (even if too small bottom treads are rather impractical to handle) and now also reduces the amps. So I was curious if the Mini Superbeetle could do the splits between sound and practicality. The MV 50 series is too small for me, I also lack a reverb. It's great that he's with the Mini Superbeetle. Whether the Nutube technology actually produces tube sounds, was rather secondary to my decision. Tube amp's develop their qualities far beyond a community-compatible volume, also have Transitoramps their creaking past long ago left behind. Anyway, the Mini Superbeetle is a delightful little amp with enormous qualities and reserves. How authentic he reproduces the legendary VOX sound, I can not say, because the comparison is missing firstly, and secondly, not quite fair. It certainly sounds good and dynamic with SCs, HBs or P90s. The Zerre can be sensitively controlled via the Gain control and is unnecessary, depending on position and taste, even the overdrive pedal. The reverb sounds authentic, you just have to like the tremolo effect. The included box with 10? Speaker sounds surprisingly voluminous, in addition you can adjust the sound with the switch for Flat and Deep depending on taste and guitar type. The amplifier is really loud if necessary, it is theoretically good, yes, practically not. For the stage he was not built, but he is just too small, too light and not stable enough. The only drawback is the unpleasant bright status LED, in addition, the mini-toggle for switching on and off is a bit fumbling. Nevertheless, there's a total of the total score, because the small part just sounds just great and really fun.
