Seriously. I don't think I've actually snapped a pair of these.
I ended up back on Promark oak as I prefer the feeling (and I like the stripe), but these Wincent sticks are the real deal.
I don't think I ever broke a tip when using them and the amount of abuse these take is unmatched. The wax coating Wincent uses clearly works as the area around the logo that takes the brunt of the rimshot damage took forever to start splitting and fraying. This area dented and obviously took damage, but the wood held together extremely well.
I only have two complaints about these;
1) They're hard to get in the UK, and Thomann's shipping fees make them a little uneconomical to order unless you're bulk buying or stocking up with a few other items.
2) The weight of the sticks would vary from pair to pair a lot. I never felt like one stick was heavier than the other within a pair, but if that pair got worn out and I picked up a fresh set the weight difference between the two pairs could be significant. Other companies have this issue as well, it's not just Wincent, but I did notice it a little more.
Overall, great sticks if you're a heavy hitter that wants a big stick to last forever.
