A low end monster that growls, honks, barks and packs a real punch!
I had been browsing around for a new bass for my home studio. I wanted a solid well built bass with that classic P bass punch and low end growl without having to spend a lot of money. The Yamaha BB delivered!
This bass is solidly constructed with a great selection of tone woods that would rival most of its competitors.
The pickups on this bass are great! With the added bonus of the jazz pickup in the bridge to add a little honk and sizzle. The P&J configuration allows anybody to get great tone and be creative!
The only criticism I have of the Yamaha BB is some of the cheaper components it comes with. The bridge isn’t good the saddle springs buzz. However it’s a simple and relatively inexpensive upgrade.
Another problem I ran in to was the factory wiring the pickups weren’t grounded causing buzzing and crackling when amplified! Again this is a relatively easy fix.
To conclude this bass is almost perfect it plays really well, sounds great and is built to last. If these issues were resolved from the factory this bass would be 5 stars across the board from me!
